There are those songs that you can listen to over and over again as you keep discovering new jewels hidden in a turn of phrase or flurry of notes you didn't notice before. Over the last few months I have been enjoying Josh Garrel's Beyond the Blue. It made me sing loudly in the car. It has prompted happy tears and sad tears. It was an antidote to the feelingas of despair that overcame me after seeing the images the World Press Photo exhibition. Everytime I listen to it, the story it tells prompts me towards prayer and praise.
Last week, after listening to it carefully again, I decided to sit down and annotate a copy of the lyrics with all the thoughts and images that run through my head as this song plays.
