My favourite thing about today was that I had my first "Technocultures" lecture. It was so beautiful. In the last three or four years, technology nerds have become cool (like most of the people in that class, who wear trendy glasses and nice hair and very cool shirts). But our lecturer comes from before that time. He is an old school technology man, with a crumpled, not-as-cool-as-the-students shirt, and he may have accidentally plugged himself into a wall and electrocuted his hair.
He is teaching us a really bland and vague version of Sociology, punctuated with YouTube clips of a man filming himself with an infrared camera and balancing cold drinks on his head. He talks about how our use of mobile phones has changed patterns of socialisation. Meanwhile, my friend Mike and I are messaging each other across the classroom:
I like his hair.
