the weekend at home was great, despite having the same conversation with 29387659834w765493086034986093 different people 1938567934876893476t984 different times.
"How's Toronto? You're in acting, right?"
"erm... well... no... not yet. I'm actually thinking about transferring... maybe... probably... or... something (?)"
. . . . . . .
so, Evita was incredible. I had binoculars and felt exceedingly creepy watching my friends too closely throughout the show. (following zaina's face intently and trying to send her telepathic messages to break character and smile at me!) It was so great to see and talk to my theatre family again. had my conversation with them and basically decided that yeah, I'll do the performing arts thing for a while at least (assuming I'm able to get in somewhere) because, even though it may be difficult to find work in the field, I won't be able to forgive myself if I don't even try. (I am, of course, perpetually holding on to my writing.) Plus, there are so many other things I can do with a degree in music or theatre. My mom had an article about how people are getting jobs in all sorts of interesting places with just liberal arts degrees, which, 20 years ago, were more or less considered useless on their own.
PLUS
it's what I love to do. Plain and simple. I need to be in an environment that inspires me, and at this point in my life, journalism school just makes me want to beat my head against a brick wall; among other painful, counter-productive things.
I got my day camp job back, and got an offer to teach at another theatre camp. Obviously I can't do both and I'm planning on staying at the Parks and Rec camp for my third year... but I am flattered nonetheless.
EVERYONE: I love you, thank you, I'll be home for "good" (a few months) before you know it
CRISTIE: MEGA great to have you back. that banana was rather unpleasant. still, it was nice to hang out with you again.
ZAINA: commmeeee too montttwwweeaaaaaauuuuwwwwwwwl in aaaayyyppppwwwwwiiiiil! I need a theatre mom for my big audition !
CANDICE: thanks for your words of encouragement, wisdom, and fab-ness. I certainly plan on being all up on your shit next year, should I happen to wind up studying in your city.
HOLLY: Ich kann nicht warten, um Deutsches zu erlernen (probably so wrong, I had to babelfish it, as we do not yet understand german. yet!)
MAURA: I understand what you mean about working in a vacuum, although people may criticize both of us for it. <> everyone feels blocked at some time or another. you'll be fine, I have faith in you.
CHELSEA:I need to make sweet love to your baldness. Perhaps this weekend?
SARAH, DANIELLE: neither of you read this I'm sure, but thank you both for the rides. so much better than the train! Danielle, this week= headshots and getting pierced?
I've had a few selfish entries lately, I'll admit. maybe my goal for this week can be to focus on entertaining my public and to stop constantly analyzing my position in the world.
once again, AMAZING job to everyone involved in EVITA and do it up like apple crisp next freakin' weekend!!!
