So I've decided to go low-carb for a while, as of this week, and so far it's been going pretty well - especially given that I had no prior planning and just sort of started on Monday out of the blue. But my last carb-laden meal was surprise!tatertots, and so clearly this was a sign that it was time to go for it (because they're my current favorite thing, and as a "last meal" of sorts, it's pretty great).

I tried this when I was younger and I lost a lottt of weight - but I was a kid, and thus was eating whatever was given to me, and it wasn't really like I was doing it on purpose, really, and so when the parents quit doing it, I quit doing it. But now I think I can probably manage it! At least for a while.
Some things I have learned thus far:
  • Caffeine pills work BETTER than caffeinated beverages. Without the sugar buzz / assorted things they put in energy drinks, I don't get all shaky / sick, and the general caffeinated feeling lasts longer and fades out much more nicely. I think even if I weren't doing low carb, these would be something I'd keep using all the time instead.
    • And they're cheap! 90 tablets (one every three hours is a dose, but I've only used one all day and been fiiiine) for like $3, which is really a good deal when a single energy drink is that much or more. Well worth it!
  • I can drink coffee without sugar if there is enough creamer in it - and the half-and-half we have here at the building is carb-free, so I can have enough creamer in it easily! This also applies to tea, either hot or cold.
  • I'm alarmingly picky about the water I drink. I need to deal with this, because my skin is already protesting my mostly-cheese diet, and I know the best way to fix that is to drink water, but, um, the tap water here is gross (it tastes of bleach, yo!), and the jugs of "drinking water" that are here are not much better, and home tap water is not completely horrible, but really seems to have gone down in quality in the last couple years... I never used to really care that much but I really do now. Dasani is the best bottled kind, in my opinion, but I'm not able to buy water - I'd have to be having a LOT of spare money to be able to bring myself to pay for water regularly when what I have is, technically, drinkable, you know? I
  • Being able to / encouraged to eat lots of cheese is amazing.
  • Pickles are acceptable! \o/
  • I still can't stand the taste of diet sodas / artificial sweeteners. ICK. No.
  • Gum helps when I am feeling like eating random stuff. Which I already knew, but it's still cool.
  • Unfortunately eggs/cheese are not helping my cough go away any faster... ugh.
In other news, I purchased bright yellow nail polish and two purple shirts yesterday, my MP3 player's shuffling properly today, I have recently gotten myself re-addicted to playing Diablo 2 (I seriously hatehatehate act 2, yo!), have a Supernatural S5 fanmix about 82.5% finished, and I just am overall having a good couple of days.

bullets are fun, girly moments sometimes happen, caffeine, coffee, random, computer games, food
