So I'm now the proud owner of a checking account, internet access to it pending (probably will be ready tomorrow). One step closer to getting a PayPal account, so I can start selling things online and actually having money! I feel weird and adult-like and accomplished. Also the chick (well, I say chick - she was sort of older than "chick" implies) was really fun and friendly and didn't mind that I sounded like a total ditz (I didn't/don't know our street address - we never use it, so I never remember it! It took me years to be able to remember the PO box address!) and actually said she's the same way, which is sort of cool.
Also apparently my savings account was in my parents' names before because when it was established I was a minor (like, I was mayyyybe ten years old, if that), and instead of setting it up so control of it would turn over to me when I turned 18, it just stayed as it was, so if I'd tried to go get money out of it I wouldn't have been able to at all. Until today, anyway, when the lady looked at it and was like "...well that's dumb. Whoever opened this account was either new or stupid." and then fixed it. <33 So the $11 in that account was now MINE officially! ...Whoo? Then we transferred $10 into the checking to open it, so there's really almost nothing in savings, but I'll put more in at some point.
For now, though, I'm excited and happy and giddy and still trying to adjust to thinking of myself as an adult. It's getting easier, though. Next step - activate the online access (need to find my social security information, haha), set up the PayPal... and find out stuff about getting my license and registering to vote.
On the voting vein - I'm already tired of politics, and I'm not even officially involved whatsoever in anything resembling voting. That and this whole "ooh, government in general is a bad thing - anarchyyyy~!" that a lot of teenager types (and their music; political music = fail) are doing lately - that really pisses me off. Just because something is imperfect doesn't mean it's Serious Evil, you guys. Also, we know the world is going to get worse than this before it ends - so, um, why freak out when it happens? It's expected. No matter who becomes President, it's still going to get worse than this, because that's how it rolls in the world. Calm the hell down and be grateful for what you have, please? Ughh.
