Someone asked how many different places I'd lived in, and I had to stop and think about it. After a lot of counting on my fingers, and re-counting because was that really right?, I realized that -- if I decided "lived in" meant anyplace I'd stayed for a month or more, I have lived in eleven different houses, two apartments, and one dorm room. In four different countries.
Eleven different houses! Four countries!
(The one apartment was in Greece, where I studied abroad for a semester, and the other was in Chicago, where I did my CPT training, and the dorm was in college.)
Eleven! Wow!
And, even more astounding, nine of those places are from the past five-odd years. Since September 2010. Count 'em: the farm in Missouri, my friends' place in Santa Fe, the farm in Texas, my friends' farm in Colorado, the house in Kurdistan, the house where I stayed with my mom in my hometown, the house where she lives now, the place I stayed in New Brunswick, and this house here in Toronto.
Before September 2010, I'd lived in two different houses: the house I grew up in, and the co-op I lived in for my last two years of college. But they were in the same town, along with my dorm. So before September 2010, I'd lived in two places: my hometown, and Greece. Afterwards, a dozen.
I don't even know what to do with this information right now, I just wanted to note it here.
...No wonder I've gotten better at packing.
