being happy with other countries' elections
Taking a small break from Iraq updates, largely because I was away from my laptop for much of the day and haven't been keeping up. Also it is definitely depressing. And I have happier news for you tonight.
Kathleen Wynne has just become Canada's first openly gay woman premier! Yaaaay! (She was Premier before today, but because she inherited the position; now, she's been elected.)
We all had an election-results-watching party at the house two doors down, crammed the living room with neighbors and friends, drank wine, and sang Hey, hey, hey, goodbye when the Progressive Conservative leader stepped down. For someone who knows very little about Canadian politics (what I know basically boils down to Stop Harper), it was very interesting to watch!
