Synesthesia -- this explains a lot. Apparently, it's not that common, but it sure is cool. I feel privileged to have it. It's very entertaining, and explains a lot about my ability in the kitchen -- seems taste and smell are really big with this. And it also explains my habit of bursting into song at random moments. Life is so mysterious and I like scratching the surface and making discoveries like this (although technically DP discovered it, or at least explained to me that I have it). I am now going to B&N to buy myself a particular book on the subject. A little exploratory reading.
Chocolate is overflowing in my life right now, which is tasty, but probably not good for the proportions of my ass. I blame Easter and all that entails. I am the proud owner of handfuls of chocolate eggs, malt ball eggs, butterfinger eggs, Peeps, jelly beans, 2 Bordeaux See's eggs, a See's chocolate bunny, and I already ate the Easter M&Ms and the entire egg-shaped box of See's cream centers. I am trying very hard to pace myself, but it hasn't been a week yet and already I have overindulged. I might freeze some of this stuff to force myself to behave with more control and moderation.
Spent a fun evening with N, N, and K, and we were all talking about the fun upcoming events. It's the start of the spring/summer social season and we are ready to go. I am taking stock of my calendar and figuring out the whens and wheres. We've got some good parties on the horizon and I am working on outfitting my closet with appropriate clothing options for these events. Got myself 2 new "boob tops" and the ladies call them and my next purchase will be some sort of springtime dress. If the weather is good tomorrow, I will head out for a bit of hiking and I am hoping to hit pilates on Sunday morning as part of my new effort to get into shape for bathing suit season. It's been slow going with the fitness thing, but I am trying to figure out how to get more motion in my life. I might attempt to take up running again. New fancy asthma drugs should help with problems I had last time and it would be cool to be able to actually run a 5k rather than just walk it.
Had some great wine the other night, amazingly enough it was a Merlot, which I usually hate, and it was cheap. It was Bear's Lair Merlot from TJ's at $3.99 a bottle. I'm shocked, and totally impressed. It was fruitier and darker than Merlots usually are, and very spicy. I was thinking it was a Syrah or a Zin, but when she said it was a Merlot I was floored. Of course, it's a CA Merlot, which means grapes from all over the state, so a totally blend, but maybe that is what gave it the fuller flavor. Not sure, but I am very impressed with something so cheap. Wonder what Parker would think. . .
