I'm baaack

I am finally back from what was certainly an interesting and eventful week. I'll start with monday. I spent all day being nervous about calling the boy (whose name is Aaron by the way), had lunch with Jan, ran some errands and then got home. still too nervous to make the call, I took a nap, woke up at 5 something when Julie got home and just called him. It went much better than I had anticipated, and for those of you who don't know, we went out for coffee and dinner. I don't want to do what I do and make something out of nothing, so I'll just say that a good time was had, and he wants me to call him as "we should do this again, it was fun." Filled with caffeine and joy, I walked all the way home from Queen Anne, by which time it was 10:30. Lisa had to drive Julie to the airport so I decided that I'd just go with them and spent the night at her house so I wouldn't have to leave for downtown as early.

I get to Ohio Tuesday afternoon and spend the night with my dad and his friends, which ended up being as much of a bachelor party as a 50-something year old can have. They decided that since I'm an adult now, it's ok to hear all the stories about my father, and after having heard the stories, I learned that he was even more of a ladies man than I ever knew. I also learned some interesting things about my mom. It was definitely a learning experience for me hanging out with his friends that he's known since he was 16 years old.

Wednesday is the wedding, and to make a long story short, I'll just mention the highlights. He was married by a lesbian preacher, his wife didn't feel like wearing her wedding gown, so she wore a multi-colored patchwork dress and birkenstocks, and instead of simply taking each others' last names, they took both last and middle names. My dad is now John Margaret Webb Martin, and his wife is Arlene Henry Martin Webb. They are too cute. And such hippies.

Thursday I went to the airport. I got on the plane, and in the middle of the runway we had to stop because a huge thunder storm started. Torrential downpour and lightning. I was on my way to St. Louis where I had a plane to catch to Seattle, but because they wouldn't let us leave until 4 hours later, I missed my plane. And I couldn't stay in Ohio for the night because my dad had already left on his honeymoon, and I didn't have the phone number for his friend that lives there. So late Thursday night I finally got to St. Louis, stayed in a hotel, ordered pizza, watched Young Frankenstein on tv and went to bed. It was actually pretty fun. It was annoying at first, but I didn't really have to be anywhere so I just went with it. I had breakfast at a Chilis at the airport and sat next to a cute boy, who's name turned out to be William. He wished me luck on getting home asap and we went our separate ways. Don't get any ideas, he was married. So I didn't talk as much as I might have if he weren't, but he was very friendly and had a kind face and a southern accent. In fact, all of the people I talked to in St. Louis were very nice. Much nicer than anyone else in any other airport I've ever been to. So overall I've had very good experiences with people from Missouri, which is where Aaron happens to be from.

And now, I'm off to a birthday party. I'm going to hold off on calling Aaron until tomorrow.. I won't wait too long, don't worry.
