The Young Victoria
I finally got around to watching The Young Victoria yesterday and while I found it quite lovely it was a bit on the long side.
First off Emily Blunt is absolutely stunning in this film and she turns in a beautiful performance. Rupert Friend was also quite lovely, they have wonderful chemistry that makes the love story quite compelling. The overall cast is fantastic (Harriet Walter as Queen Adelaide was particularly fab!) and the costumes were gorgeous, the movie looks absolutely sumptuous.
Unfortunately I found the film dragged and was surprised to find that the movie clocked in under two hours since it felt significantly longer to me. I think the main problem was keeping track of all the people trying to manipulate Victoria in under two hours, this would have worked much better as a mini-series where the rest of the characters could have been more fully developed and they had the time to really delve into all the intrigue.
