Bloody Hell!

AMNESIA!? Srsly!? I was annoyed enough with the House finale but the Bones one takes the cake! I'm not emotionally involved with House (even though I 'ship Huddy)  so while I'm pissy about them pulling a Dallas (of sorts) on us I can accept it as being perfectly in keeping with the show in general, this article sums up my feelings regarding the House finale pretty succintly.

Bones is another matter altogether as I'm actually emotionally attached to most of these characters, Brennan and Booth in particular. Sadly enough I'm quite used to being screwed by the writers of Bones who have a habit of setting up great stories and then just screwing them up royally. They're also big fans of character assasination if it fits the particular story of the week which is rather frustrating... the only thing that saves them is that the cast gels so beautifully and the characters are generally so lovable that even when they do things that are out of character (like Booth not telling Bones his death was faked or Zack being Gormogons apprentice for crying out loud!) we still love them and scramble to come up with logical reasons for their conduct and the writers stupidity.

Despite all this I actually enjoyed most of the emotional progress in the B&B relationship this year even if some of it made no sense (glaring examples this season included Bones going out with Jared and her sudden desire to have a baby) so to have all this forward momentum be subject to freaking amnesia is frustrating as hell! I actually thought the episode was quite fun and would have enjoyed it if they hadn't ended it on such a cliche, it's like they want to have an out for all the emotional growth they gave us this year. Then again they may just decide to ignore the amnesia altogether when the new season starts... you never know with these writers considering how they treated Booths' last two near-death experiences. Perhaps Booth will be cured over the summer and we'll have them back to normal with no mention whatsoever of either Brennan's sudden desire to be a mom or Booths amnesia... bastards!
