So I think the time has come for me to start blogging again. Will this last beyond one entry? Probably not, but I'm thinking positive.
Speaking of thinking positive (ly?), I read about... two thirds of that book "The Power of Positive Thinking" and so far, it's not working so well. Perhaps the big secret is revealed in the last chapter, and I'm

however, the twilight series has taken the cake on all of this. i didn't want to read it, but did out of curiousity (and because my best friend only talked about twilight constantly) so i decided to educate myself on this series. and i read all fucking four of them.
After reading them all the only positive things i have to say about them are that they are getting young people to read. okay so it's shitty literature akin to the gossip girl series, but we all forage into our shitty but entertaining literature from time to time. (like the angus, thongs, and full frontal snogging series). also i will admit that the storyline is quite intriguing as i found myself actually wanting to know what would happen. however, i find the same thing is true when i watch really shitty tv dramas. it's like, this is so bad and ridiculous but i can't stop watching!
however, despite my personal beefs with the series-- the anti-feminism so blatantly shown (really people, what year are we living in?), the edward/bella romance...gag me with a spoon... i found myself at times having to stop reading because it was just too much for me, and not to mention i really feel like they have no basis for their relationship (oh! you're dangerous!, oh you smell good! OMG it's luv!), and the fact that it's really not my genre (vampire/werewolf fantasy stuff...) my biggest beef with the series is the writing.
stephenie meyer, you couldn't not write yourself out of a box. at most, i'd say it's semi decent to semi good fan fiction, at best. i swear if i had to read about edwards sultry voice one more time i was going to throw something. her descriptions are half-assed, and she writes some decent suspense, but then that's it. the endings are so anti-climactic and she cannot write a decent fight scene (which she rarely makes happen anyway).
reread the novels with the idea that meyer is a morman and you can see it's influence in the storyline, which is somewhat interesting. the 4th book is just straight up creepy rosemary's baby like. and i agree on the second one. i was so annoyed with bella's fucking mopeyness, i just wanted to slap her.
most other people who are fans of that genre, from what i've gathered, see twilight as fan fiction to mccafferty or anita blake 90210. people that have read good vampire/werewolf fantasy fiction completely disregard the twilight series.
and don't get me started onthe effect all of this has on future generations. sheesh.
