FANON; TransFormers Zodiac

Mar 15, 2010 12:29

The TransFormers have their own version of the Zodiac; this holds true across their multiverse, seeing as it is based upon the multiversal singularities known as the Thirteen. However, the names by which these signs are called are not the names of the Thirteen, merely titles that they have either given themselves or others have given to them. A casual observer would note no direct connection between the first ancestors of the species and the signs which hearken to them.

All told, there are Thirteen signs - however, one of these is often removed from most records, for what specific reasons few know. And, depending on the universal stream; sometimes there are only Seven. Regardless, the signs follow a set cycle of Vorns; if there are less in them in a particular stream, then they simply stretch longer.

The signs are as follows;

The Spark
The Lord
The Blade
The Star
The Forge
The Wing
The Fist
The Word
The Keeper
The Sage
The Vision
The Dream
The Chosen

-------------

THE SPARK;THE LORD;THE BLADE;
Those born within the Vorns of the Spark are said to be natural leaders. All mechs have the potential for leadership, but these ones excel. They are guides, they are teachers, and at worst the shadows that they cast upon the land are enough to plunge it in to darkness. They may be humble or arrogant, fierce or gentle, but you can almost always find a Spark at the head of a group of others, even if said group is rough and 'unofficial' by any means. Because whether they want it or not - Sparks are looked to."Worship me and I will reward you. Deny me and I will render you as shards." Lords are drawn to power, or perhaps power is drawn to them. They can flaunt it, or they can sit with it, waiting, biding their time for the right time to make use of it. Patient by nature, they rarely lose their temper, but they can also be so focused upon the 'grand plan' that they lose sight of the smaller details - and those details can be their undoing. But more often than not, their plans are strong enough to endure such.A weapon is defined by those who wield it, and Blades are no different. They can be the greatest of aids to those whom they call friend, but to those who mistreat them they can be as damaging as any electrum razor. And to those that they turn their wrath upon - there is said to be little more damaging than the fury of a Blade. They may see themselves as guardians and protectors, preferring to use their power to help others - or as warriors through and through, ones who know well that their strengths are on more than just the literal battlefield.
THE STAR;THE WING;THE FIST;
Stars are the lights in the darkest of hours. They reach out to others and support them with the strength of friendship, which can endure through even the worst of times. Empathy and understanding are some of their strengths, though they can often be...somewhat secretive and quiet about their own personal lives. Stars are just as fine giving off their own light as they are supporting others' glow, and are best when they are with others. A lonely star feels their solitude acutely.Wings can seem flighty, at times, with a loose grip on the ground. They adapt to situations easily, changing with the wind. But they can also be surprisingly stabilizing to those around them, helping them change as well. Wings rarely hold grudges - but at worst, they can quickly forget those who have done good things to them, to hold on to a singular train of thought that guides them through life.A Fist is not the sort of mech who will simply take blows. They hit back. And when they hit, it is felt. Though normally good humored, a Fist can just as easily be serious when the situation calls for it, but they always seem to hold to a sense of honor. They form few true friendships, but what ones they do form are all they need. Strong. Personal. It takes some doing to get a Fist to truly trust you, but when you do, you have one of the greatest of friends you will ever have, one who risks it all.
THE WORD;THE KEEPER;THE SAGE;
Words are not always...wordy. They can be quiet, letting their actions speak for themselves - or they can be the sort to whose words others are drawn, like scrapmoths to a flame. Introspective, thoughtful, careful - these are words that apply to those under this sign, though there are also times when Words find the need for action, and when they do take action they can be all but unrecognizable. Sometimes they need a mediating presence, to remind them of just why they took action in the first place.Keepers are often quiet and reclusive. Their patience can be the stuff of legends, seemingly endless - as is their single-mindedness. And like their name implies, they can be somewhat of packrats, whether it be of physical items or of more intangible things like friendships or knowledge. But they aren't always selfish; a Keeper may enjoy possession, but they may also enjoy sharing those possessions with others. What it takes to get them to 'spread the wealth', as it were, depends on the individual.If knowledge is power, then the greatest of mechs were indeed Sages. They seem to be drawn to positions where knowledge is valued if not the most important part thereof - whether it be knowledge gained from the past, the sort learned by experience, or any other sort. They are driven by the urge to know, to understand - whether they be guides, leaders, archivists, guardians of lore...they may seek to simply understand people, and help them through such means.
THE VISION;THE DREAM;THE CHOSEN;
Visions do not so much accumulate knowledge as /use/ it. And sometimes, they don't even need knowledge. They are those who can look at a small piece of a puzzle, and envision the entire shape and form. Or they can have an object used one way, and then put it to another that none other imagined. They are inventive and meticulous, and few things escape their notice. A Vision may not necessarily seek the spotlight, but those within it would do well to seek their insight...and to avoid their ire, for a Vision can just as easily see the single flaw that could shatter even the great ones.Dreams are not held down, or held back. Dreams are those whose only limits are their own, who seem to be able to rise above the planet itself in their quest for greatness. Or perhaps it is not a quest, perhaps they only but inspire others to achieve such feats. And on the darker side - those Dreams who seem more like nightmares can be crippling to others, weakening their sparks and making it impossible for them to recharge. Or to even get out of the berth. For good or ill, the inspiration of a Dream can be what makes or breaks those around them.Chosen mechs come in all kinds. But those under this sign are said to have a great destiny ahead of them, whether it be obvious or covert. All TransFormers are cogs in the machine that is life, but these - these may go through a lifetime before realizing that they were the one needed to truly make that machine live. They may but be a strong figure in another's life, necessary to let them make some sort of achievement, or the quiet voice who makes another doubt and eventually turn from their path - or they may be the stuff of which Primes are made. Whatever the way, however the way - theirs is a fate that cannot be denied so easily.
THE FORGE;
The Forge is the sign that is to be forgotten and stricken from the record - and yet, it persists. Those who fall under this sign are catalysts of change, great or small; they upset the status quo somehow, for better or for worse. They find new truths that upset commonly accepted ones, they create truths that disrupt the world, they accomplish impossible achievements - woe be to any who would try to pull a Forged mech from their chosen path, for it is a vain endeavor at best, and a disaster in the making at worst.

META; each of these signs is based/inspired by a TF character. Spark = Prima, Lord = Liege Maximo, Blade = Vector Prime, Star = Maccadam, Forge = Fallen, Wing = "Unnamed Female Warrior" as announced by Hasbro to be part of the 13 and knowing my luck, she won't HAVE any wings, Fist = Nexus Prime, Word = Soundblaster, Keeper = Keeper, Sage = Alpha Trion, Vision = Boltax, Dream = TFs in general ("They were the dream..."), Chosen = The Last Autobot.

Please note that only a handful of those are canon Originals. The others are, at best, rumored to be, and not confirmed by any means.

Assume the Forge similar to Ophiuchus/Serpentarius, in terms of how well known it is. It's there if you look hard enough, but most haven't heard of it. Very possibly its position within the rotation changes, so a character could think they're one sign when they're technically another. Such mechs would be referred to as "Forged _____", as a "Forged Wing", "Forged Blade", or "Forged Dream." Whether or not the double meaning of 'Forged' in this sense is intentional, remains to be seen.
