hello manhattan, farewell queens!

dear friends, once again, i would like to apologize for my disappearance over the last few weeks.  some of you may already know that a tremedous amount has been going on for me lately.  several months ago, some changes were abruptly thrust upon me, and what started out as a distraction from that ended up sealing one chapter in my life and starting another, and right now, i am at the climax of this chain of events.

at the onset of these events, my intention was to move to the san francisco bay area, partly for a change of pace, and partly for a chance to swap my trusty honda accord for a porsche boxster.  san fran didn't happen but seattle almost did, and seattle made me realize i wasn't ready to leave the big apple, so here i still am, ready to trade my honda accord for the yellow cabs of manhattan.

after 5.5 years, i've traded my job at one internet advertising company for a gig at a smaller competitor and a shot at the big time.  i've been on this new ride about 2 weeks now and loving every minute of it, so i ask that you keep your fingers crossed that my career will stay in high gear at least until the moolah starts rolling in.

well, if you're still reading, i applaud you, for this is starting to sound as monotonous as a computer science textbook.  i shall keep this short since i am writing this on my brand new macbook pro standing by the kitchen counter; all my furniture was carted off to the salvation army today cos i'm getting ready to abandon my domicile of 4 years.  after tonight, my transformation into a full-fledged manhattanite shall be complete.

i have lived in places where i can drive for 30 minutes before i find anything even remotely fun, so this time i've made sure not to repeat the mistake.  i will be within 10 minutes walk of the great white way--broadway--and my move will be celebrated with an outing to a ballet on sunday evening.

i like the new neighborhood already.
