Was that movement he heard? It sounded like running that just abruptly stopped.
The fighting was too far away as Wolf paused in mid-stride. He believed the human--had to be--was somewhere very close. He could feel it in his gut that another one of those lowly humans was scurrying about, like a rat, and none of his troops managed to seek the individual out.
Wolf successfully held back another smirk, a more ill intended one at that as he soon found a kid in hiding.
He could be spared, for now, if he could tell me the whereabouts of Blue...
He wore a rather serious expression, his deep voice leveling with how he approached the boy. "Do you know where I can find the man Joseph Jobson?" Most people would know him by that name, not by the code name Wolf preferred to use. "In human form, his hair is dark. His skin is about the same color as yours, his eyes auburn looking. Blue colored scar mark near one of the eyes. His armored form is dark, but with blue cross-hatched lights on the back of his head, across the chest, and down the arms. The scar line red."
He believed he was very elaborate on the description. "You won't get hurt. I can promise you that, if you could help me look for him." His fight was with Blue to begin with.
Wolf never kept track of everyone around here. The boy was the same age as that Malek kid, another one who didn't know the glory of supereme power. The power to surpass anything, even death.
This kid could be useful. Blue sides with humans...
Toward what remained of the Amalgams, Wolf passed a message through the AI in his head. A text message they would all be able to see, along with the image of the boy. This kid is not to be harmed, under any circumstances, read his message. Alert me if you find Blue. Those are your orders.
Hope jumped back slightly under the gaze of the older man in surprise. The man was talking about some other person called Joseph Jobson, who he had never heard of.
But to be honest Hope hadn’t seen anyone of that description nearby when he passed though the main town earlier, other than a few villagers going quickly into there homes.
He turned his attention to the man. “No sorry, I haven’t seen anyone matching that description, I only came here a little while ago” he answered honestly. Still unsure if the guy was telling the truth or not Hope decided to play it safe and if things went wrong he could always run.
“I may not have seen him yet, but would you like some help with finding him?
Innocent and clueless as to what’s happening here, Wolf processed. He’s incredibly lucky to not have been killed off by now. Yeah, I think I will make some use out of him. And reward him afterwards...
Wolf showed the boy a small smile. “Newcomer, huh? Everyone else around would have been informed about the terrorist, so that explains it.” His smile diminished as seriousness returned in his baritone voice.
“It’s a good thing I found you. You’ll be safe under my protection,” Wolf told him, and held out his hand. “I am Wolf Goring, commander of the Xenogenesis Assault Team. A special defense unit assembled to locate and put an end to superhuman threats who come into town... I can find him on my own. All you need to do is to stay close.”
He knew how to sound convincing, sound like the good guy around the humans. He’s done it before, back at the XAT headquarters. Those gullible fools almost shot down Amanda Werner, Hermann Saltza, and those remaining worms that were a threat to the cause of a new era of civilization in the world Xargin and Wolf wanted to remake. Wolf found it so easy to act like some heroic figure in front of this youngster.
He sent another AI message to whoever was left to obey his commands. There were so few now. Start your retreat into the forest. Be on standby. A distant sound of running on sidewalk and asphalt was heard soon after.
Well maybe he wasn’t so bad after all Hope thought as the feeling he got from the guy wasn’t as bad a he had feared. The guy was even being nice.
Hope smiled back, even though the guy seemed nice, he was always weary when Wolf had said he was the leader of an assault team. That normally meant the military and that didn’t bode well for an l'Cie like him.
Brushing it off as him being scared again, he looked at the man readily.
“Thanks Mr Goring, don’t worry I won’t get in the way” he said trying to prove himself. “So where to now?”
Wolf chuckled at the young teen as he continued the charade of acting like the heroic and pathetic human he once was, before he met Xargin. “You don’t need to be formal around me, kid. You can call me by my first name if you want to.” He began to lead him into town. “We’re going back for a final sweep of the area. If Joseph’s nowhere in sight, we’ll head for the forest… By the way; wherever you think you are, you’re not. You’re in a new world, and there are other threats you’ll need to know about.”
ooc: sorry for taking so long :)hopeand_gloryMay 21 2012, 19:33:50 UTC
Hope nodded “Oh ok then”. He was still very confused though, what did Wolf mean by saying that the world was different, nobody could change the world it was just not right.
Hope jogged alongside the older man, as he tried to keep up. With the news of new threats Hope was a bit anxious. He silently fumed at himself, he wished he wasn’t so nervous about things, it was just stupid. The older man must think he was a coward but he still determined to help regardless if he could
“What kind of threats do you mean? Are they monsters or troops?” Hope asked as they swiftly moved along the streets.
Re: No worries! :D fortheneweraMay 21 2012, 21:00:39 UTC
"There are monsters, and there are other terrorists."
Wolf stopped as a felt two familiar presences. Amalgams like him had the ability to detect others. He hid a smirk from the boy. Mari, is it? Malek too? One or both would have noticed he had come to visit.
"There are two others, like Joseph. There are undead monsters who could prey on your mind. And there are two crazy gods lurking around. Not to worry though. I will help you a great deal against them."
He focused northeast. "A gut feeling tells me that one of Joseph's allies is somewhere close by."
“Terrorists." Hope repeated curiously, more to himself then to the other figure. What could the terrorists be hoping to achieve?
Quickly noticing that Wolf had suddenly stopped and he had gone too far, Hope walked back quickly looking down, as he waited for a rebuke for not paying attention.
“Well the undead monsters sound scary, but I’m sure nothing can beat you though.” He said trying to look brave. He gave Wolf an admiring look; he didn’t think anything would have a chance against him.
"Keiyakusha" from his anime's OST could start to play at this point. lol After this, Zack comes in!clashingtacticsMay 24 2012, 22:12:21 UTC
Hei had kept to the shadows, blending in as he followed Wolf Goring, Xargin’s general of all those horrible cyborgs that kept coming into town. They came in wave after wave, and it made this contractor sick to his stomach that the leader of these monsters intended to make an army out of the people who lived in this town. Three friends of his were suffering because of Xargin’s delusions of claiming to do God’s calling. More than anything, Hei wanted to strike that monster dead.
Wolf had a teenage boy with him, tagging along willingly. Hei had never seen the platinum haired youngster before. He looked to be around Malek’s age, another boy who was somewhere around this city. He must have said something to him, an empty promise to look out his well being, maybe. That didn’t really matter. What did was saving the boy from being handed the same cursed fate Malek, Mari, and Joseph had; having nano-machines intertwine with their skin tissue and vital organs.
Restlessness and lack of sleep from nightmares was another thing they shared. It deeply troubled Hei, and he had felt so helpless to stop it from happening. There was no cure for being an Amalgam. None. Joseph had been infected for a decade. Surely, he would have been cured by now, if that were possible.
They ran, and Hei followed closely, stealthily. Then Wolf stopped. Hei over heard him mention a gut feeling that there was a “terrorist” nearby. He felt his blue eyes narrowing. It’s you that’s causing the terror, not us.
Now was the time to act, and get the kid to safety. Hei was close enough to fire his grapple gun at the Amalgam general. He made sure to aim and pull the trigger so the wire and three pronged grappling hook would not injure the boy.
Wolf moved an arm behind his back to yank out the hook from his torso. If he felt any pain, it wasn’t much. His nanotech infested blood gushed out from the wound onto the road around where he stood, but not on the kid. Hei was relieved for that as he revealed himself to the man who smirked. “Oh, I remember you. The human taser. Right?”
Wolf rushed at Hei who evaded and moved to stab the bastard in his face with a crude looking knife that mostly split down the middle. “Run, kid,” he shouted for the teen to hear he ran towards the enemy. “Run as far as you can and hide-“
Pain shot up Hei’s right arm as Wolf gripped onto it very tightly, stopping the knife from cutting into the other man’s cheek. “You’re a nasty son of a bitch. Stubborn, too.” Wolf violently shoved Hei, the enhanced strength from it sending him back five feet before he felt his shoulders and back bang up against a brick wall of a building.
Zack frowned as he saw the fight going on in front of him. Amalgams were everywhere. He readied his sword and came charging in, as he usually did. He noticed a young kid looking rather worried at it all. What was he doing here? Was that a...boomarang he had? He was too young for this fight, Zack thought. He shoved any other thoughts out of his mind as he slashed at a nearby Amalgam. Using the flat of his blade he smacked another out of the way. Ducking and running towards the others, he noticed a brash big guy and a guy wearing a long, leather coat. Not unlike Sephiroth's. This guy was no Sephiroth though. He looked in dispute with the larger man.
Zack was more concentrated on the fight with the Amalgams. "Hey! Are you guys alright? How many Amalgams are there?" He looked from one to the other before seeing something bad happen. The large guy went to knife the coat guy in the face. What the hell? Then the larger guy smashed the coat guy into a wall.
"What's going on? Why are you fighting each other? We have a bigger problem here!" Zack yelled at the bigger man before narrowly avoiding getting cut in the face by a nearby Amalgam. He managed to slice it in half with his blade. He had to help that guy. He just got smashed into a wall.
Zack ran to his aid and wondered if the guy was alright. "Hey....are you ok?"
After Cloud's entrance here it'll be Hope's turn to post! :DbehindmakoeyesMay 29 2012, 02:03:56 UTC
"Zack, wait up," Cloud called after his friend as he rushed in and cut down a few of the lesser Amalgams.
Straight ahead, Cloud noticed the man who looked similar to his old friend and leader of the former Avalanche. Barret Wallace of course wouldn't do anything so terrible as to be a part of a grand scheme to wipe out all human beings. Barret cared about what happened to people, and Wolf did not.
Wolf was just as delusional as the Amalgam he followed orders from.
Cloud saw Hei get slammed against the wall of a tall building as well as the kid who appeared to be a bystander in the middle of all the commotion.
Mari's detection of Wolf had been spot on.
Wolf boasted as he transformed into his alternate form. His tank-like armor that was mostly green looked heavily built. Those red glowing spirals for eyes on his horned armored head that looked something like a human skull looked from Zack to Cloud. The distorted version of his voice sounded menacing. "I guess the whole cavalry's coming out to play!" He laughed cruelly.
Cloud tensed as he reached behind his back to unsheathe First Tsurugi.
"Don't worry about me," Cloud heard Hei say to Zack. "I'll recover shortly. Go. Help Cloud take care of Wolf."
Cloud charged towards Wolf who extended one of his arms to hit him. Cloud ducked and swung his blade at the arm that tried to rocket punch him.
He looked at what was left of Wolf with horror. He couldn’t believe it, how could he have been so stupid the guy was some sort of combat robot, with some sort of strange alloy armour.
Hope just stood there in the corner, unsure on what to do. He hadn’t figured anything like this would happen and with the new presence of two new people, he was well and truly confused.
He watched the fight with mixed fear and a need to help the others, even the two figures with the two huge swords looked like they were doing great. Turning his attention to the man described as the “human taser” he was concerned for the man health, he ran over quickly ducking under a arm of a Amalgam as it went to hit him.
Quickly skidding to a halt next to the older man, Hope took out his weapon in case they got attacked.
Hei was halfway there, using that wall he hit for support in getting to his feet. The Chinese man heard running footsteps as his cobalt blue eyes noticed that it was the kid who ran over to him, concerned.
He heard his question but didn't answer right away. He nodded to Zack one more time. He shot him a determined expression that said, Go. I'll get this kid out of here. Knowing that Zack was someone who cared about what happened to people, this he knew. Hei was more concerned of the well being of the kid's. The boy had no chance of being safe around that goddamn cyborg general. Wolf was just above irritating.
Hei noticed that Cloud was keeping Wolf busy hacking his broadsword at the Wolf who used those thick arms to block some of his blows.
Finally, he looked to the boy. He narrowed his eyes, his words blunt and very serious. "We're in the middle of a war of survival here. Wolf is not our friend. He is the enemy of mankind." He winced a bit in pain as he was now standing. I don't know or care what he's told you. You can't trust him.
One of those lesser Amalgams were coming their way, coming out of hiding. Hei glared as pulled out one of his crude looking knives. Already he moved a free hand to the utility belt underneath his dark coat that was made of the same materials Kevlar vests were made out of. Now he had a wire to wrap around the hilt of his knife.
Zack nodded as he heard Hei say he could handle himself. He certainly looked strong enough. The long cloak and eager expression said it all. Zack focused on Wolf now. The guy was one of them. One of those cursed Amalgams and he would probably try to kill them all. No way. He would stop that.
Cloud's charge towards the large man prompted Zack to inhale deeply then take a charge himself. He readied his Buster sword in both hands, tearing towards the hulking beast. He must have a weak spot somewhere.
"Cloud! Perhaps if you distract him, I can get a good aim at him!" Zack skidded underneath Wolf's thick arms and went to slice down the middle of one of his big arms. Weakening the arms was probably the best thing. He didn't notice what Hope or Hei were doing. Fighting the cyborg was top priority at the moment.
Zack balled some Fire Materia up in his hand and hurled it at Wolf.
Hope hesitated and looked back to the fight. He was majorly confused, they guy who had been so nice to him the first time he had entered the town was now the enemy of mankind according to the older man.
The man with the spiky black hair was making good progress as his Fire Materia had hit Wolf in the shoulder though the man wasn’t slowing down much, only for the other younger blond hair man to slam his sword into him making him back up a little.
Turning back to the injured guy, Hope followed his line of vision and saw one of the weaker Amalgams approaching fast. Unsure of himself but determined to protect the injured guy he raised his boomerang in defence, as the other pulled out his knife.
Wolf barely felt the impact from the fireball that collided into his shoulder. His armor was thick enough to withstand heat, even at strong levels.
His voice sounded distorted as he laughed.
The blond spiky human swung his broadsword fiercely toward Wolf's chest but he blocked the blow with his other thick armor.
He looked over his shoulder at the electricity man and the kid very briefly. The older of the two still looked to be in pain, but he threw one of his knives directly into the face of one of his troops. The outline of his body glowed a light blue hue as he sent a heavy electric current to stop Wolf's soldier from taking a swipe at the boy.
Wolf pushed the blonde away in brute strength and extended his other arm towards the darker spiky guy's direction.
The fighting was too far away as Wolf paused in mid-stride. He believed the human--had to be--was somewhere very close. He could feel it in his gut that another one of those lowly humans was scurrying about, like a rat, and none of his troops managed to seek the individual out.
