yeah, i suppose i could be asleep right now, but where's the fun in that? instead i think i'll comment about the latest movies i've seen from Netflix and post icons i have made. first of all, i'm getting better =) i still have the most annoying cough and my voice is all rough, but other than that, i'm good. i also got my blood test results back from the doctor and i'm fine except that my 'good' cholesterol is slightly low. still having insurance issues dealing with my wisdom teeth [thank god they don't hurt yet] :/ ah, well.
i'm going to comment on the movies under a cut, just in case someone hasn't seen them/my rant won't end :D the movies i've seen lately are 'I, Robot,' 'The Commitments,' 'Sin City,' and 'Demon Under Glass.' the icons are from 'Demon Under Glass.'
THE COMMITMENTS
it was an alright movie. i wasn't sure what to expect when i rented it. i thought it was a little slow at the beginning [but i could just be used to fast-action american movies ;) ] but i really liked the end for some reason. also, i loved the music. and the accents. they do swear a lot =) that seemed to bug my mom [even though she swears like crazy]. and it had Colm Meaney. Chief O'Brien!!! yay! glad i saw it, but probably wouldn't buy it.
I, ROBOT
i really liked this movie. i never read the books/stories it was based on, so i can't compare them, but i enjoyed it. i really liked Sonny. and the professor who 'commited suicide' was in Star Trek! he was the first human to achieve warp drive and meet Vulcans! yay for Star Trek people everywhere! i wanted to make a mini movie icon of Sonny winking, but i had to send it back before i could. maybe another time. it really creeped me out how the robots moved like spiders. ewww... i might have guessed that VICKI was the 'bad guy', but to be honest, i forgot she existed. oh well. no points for me :) when Sonny was about to be executed, i wanted to hug him. he was acting like a child and he reminded me of Data's early days. good movie. don't know if i'd buy it, but i'd ask for it as a present.
SIN CITY
okay. i finally saw this movie. to be honest, i got bored halfway through. the b&w-ness of the movie also slightly got on my nerves after a while. i was glad most of the blood was white though- made it less gruesome. except the end when bruce willis rips the guys penis off. that's gruesome no matter what color it's in. he deserved it of course, but *shiver*. also, the narrating was slightly annoying. and i don't know if her character was supposed to be like that, but brittany murphy's character really annoyed me. and she wasn't even in it a lot. the coolest [yet possibly the most disgusting character] was Elijah Wood's character. that little smile of his, even while he was being eaten alive by wolves... and the reflection of his glasses. awesome. but my favorite part was when he was kicking the crap out of someone [i've forgotten already- the 'ugly' man] and you could see his little sneakers. for some reason i found that adorable. despite the fact that he eats people. maybe i was thinking of Elijah and not Kevin. glad i saw it, but wouldn't want it [except for the Kevin/Elijah moments].
DEMON UNDER GLASS
http://www.demonunderglass.com/ okay. i wasn't sure about this movie when i rented it, i just wanted to see Garett Maggart- BLAIR!!! while i did miss his long curly hair, i really enjoyed this movie. i wasn't sure about it at the beginning, but once Dr. McKay [where have i heard that name before ;) ] showed up all was well. and while i do have my lovely slash goggles on at all times now, i KNOW there was something else between McKay and Molinar [the vampire]. Garett plays a doctor who is asked to treat a vampire and help with tests, but he sort of befriends him and things get all complicated-like. i just found out there is a website [even though i know everything has a website now] and also just discovered that there are books [well, like 2 i think] and i want them. it turns out that only about 1/1000 people have a DNA marker or something that makes them susceptible to the 'vampire virus'. and of course it turns out that our lovely Dr. Joe McKay has that marker. ooooo.... the plot thickens. the scientists 'studying' the vampire, Molinar, are performing tests on him that are basically torturing him and then it gets McKay wondering who is really evil- the vampire [who basically only feeds to survive] or the scientists torturing him in the name of science. McKay doesn't get bitten and i couldn't help but feel disappointed. i really wanted them to be together. i may be sick, but i admit it freely ;) besides, i couldn't be the only one to think that there was something between those two. this movie i would buy and very well might do so. but until then, i keep myself busy making icons. and here they are:
24 Demon Under Glass icons [including slash of course ;) ]
