So although I stated we would explore accoutrements in this installment...I was asked to explore this idea. Ever notice how people attribute human emotions to all sorts of things? The car is cantankerous, whatever "has a mind of its own", the VCR is possessed, my toaster oven is evil or even to my dog is depressed, quite a racket that last one, almost as good as diagnosing 2 yr old humans as manic depressives. We carry on conversations with the quadrupeds that live with us, sometimes quite complex, thinking they understand..They dont...Tone of voice, maybe the name we have assigned to them, nothing else. So the assumption that a phenomena(that for all practical purposes is the residue of dead humans and has absolutely no way to directly interact with live humans, if we make the leap and think even for a second that ghosts do exsist) has emotion; of any kind; is about as preposterous as stating my toaster oven is evil or maybe depressed.
But the real question is why. Why would this phenomena have emotions? We exsist (as individuals) because of our emotions, our emotional state makes us what we are. Without emotions we become robots( it can be done thru surgery, trauma, can be done chemically(have actually seen the last 2, familiar with the thorazine shuffle?) and the assignment of emotions to machines is on the same par as giving Mt Everest an emotional state .
So once again we face the question, why. I believe that its done this assignment of emotions to make this supposed phenomena more like us. It helps to justify/re enforce the premise that ghosts do exsist . It makes them more "human" , for the believer it makes them real, ie we have emotions an we are real an exsist, so if ghosts have emotions they do to exsist. Not very scienc
