Yet again, it was time for that most beloved event, Sciffy Soc's annual trip to Cramond Island. Unlike previous years however, several factors were involved to make things even better than ever

Sorry, didn't know you wanted to come out with us, I'll mention it in advance next time.

Still, if you're looking for a way to have fun that doesn't involve loud music or large amounts of money, Cramond is a still good choice. Helps if you've got a few people to help carry food/tent/barbecue material though.

We used to do it on the night of the 21st-22nd of June every year. The habit fell into abeyance sometime in the mid-nineties, I think.

Yes, the longest day of the year sounds like a pretty good time to go. It's normally fine in mid-May, except for a few hours around 1-4 before it starts to warm up again.

I'd be tempted to find out when the sea itself is actually at its warmest, as that will probably make the most difference. I suspect that occurs a little after midsummer.

I'd have thought so, yes. My guess would be August.
