State of elation

Back from Coachella and into regular life again. I should be in bed for work tomorrow at 7a but I'm not quite ready to relinquish the vacation state of mind even though I did also work today.

I'll post about it soon, with pictures, probably tomorrow (which I guess at this point is really later today since it's already after midnight and thus Wednesday).

In the meantime, I'd like to post something quick about something that I was very excited to hear about...

After 10+ years, a DVD compilation of THE STATE is finally being released this summer. 5 discs, the full show, in one set.

This was one of my very top favorite shows when I was in my late teens. Poised where it was in time it was the sketch comedy show that I loved the most as it was new at a time when I was becoming old enough to appreciate such things. For some it is Monty Python and for others is it Kids in the Hall (both awesome as well and both also appreciated by me), but for me it was THE STATE.

And for many other as well.

However the show got canceled too soon after never really quite finding a good home, and the DVD project was put on hold and then on hold again and again and again as MTV went through various changes in directions and the channel seemingly cared less and less about releasing the show despite numerous fan petitions and letters.

Perhaps it was finally enough interest, or perhaps it's been the later successes of many of the cast alumni, but for whatever reason it's finally coming.

This summer, THE STATE rises again.
