I've been remiss for updating this summer, but I've been so busy having fun! I really mean it when I say that this was quite possibly the best summer I have ever had, certainly the best in recent memory. The friends I made were amazing people, we are still all in contact thanks to Brian's listserve he made. I went camping/white water rafting this past week, after only a day at home. I had 21 new emails when I got back, all from Arkansas ppl :) Our last month there was glorious, we went to Eureka Springs, and a bunch of other fun things I can't remember exactly, I know there was ice skating and volleyball and ultimate frisbee and baseball and a lot of tennis involved. Brian and my final tennis match ended in a tie, since I broke my racket :\ I suppose besides the loss of my wonderful racket, it was a good end. I need to buy a new one and keep up this renewed passion for playing. Our last night the space program took us out for dinner to Olive Garden, and I actually tried seafood (yuck). I suppose the mussels weren't all that bad, but I didn't like the shrimp. I was really sad to have to say goodbye. They threw a half-birthday party for me that night, which of course made it even more emotional. I will never forget this summer, and all the wonderful times I had.
As for the drive home, 1100 miles, 16.5 hours including an hour traffic jam in St. Louis. I drove Zack home to Erie, PA. It was very nice to have someone to drive with. I actually only didn't drive for 2 hours, somehow I wasn't tired til then, took a nap and drive the rest of the way. We left about noon EDT and I arrived home at 6:30am. I saw the sunrise as I drove into the city. Kinda beautiful, actually.
Then we went down to Ohiopyle State Park in SW PA, to raft the lower Youghioghany River. Class III/IV rapids. Very fun times. Also got to go down natural rock waterslides. Hmmm, well I think that's all for now. I invite you all to look at our pictures for the summer again:
