Psssssst. Having sex is not the only way to "combine genes" and have children. Perhaps you've never heard of IVF (and gestational carriers, too, while we're at it)?
Wanting children does not make one "not really asexual" -- both for those asexual people who choose to have sex (such as in order to have children), and for those who have children (even genetically!) through other means, e.g. via technological intervention.
