The Drowning Girl: A Memoir by Caitlín R. Kiernan

People are talking about this book, mostly good things.

The book centrally deals with mental illness. How good a job does it do?

The protagonist also has a transgender lover. How well does the book deal with transgender issues (as well as any other LGB issues that arise in the book)?

Thanks!
