I went to the WMU basketball game yesterday and I saw something that made me think. Western was winning by one point with literally five seconds left and the other team was about to pass the ball in bounds for one final attempt at the win. At this time a decent number of people actually got up and left. There was five seconds left. I was trying to think of what they were thinking.
-"I hate basketball so much that I can't stand staying here for 5 more seconds."
-"Let's get a 5 second jump on the crowd so we can avoid traffic."
-"5 seconds? F that! I'm out of here."
-"I'm going to prove my certainty that we're going to win/lose by leaving with 5 seconds left."
-"I've seen enough."
-"If I leave now just think of all the stuff I could get done."
-"I didn't come to the game to see who wins."
-"I look like a moron right now."
I don't know...it's basically inexplicable. I mean come on...even if you don't care who wins...and you don't like basketball...it's five seconds! What can you possibly do with five seconds? Even if you want to get a jump on the crowd...you're only getting a FIVE SECOND jump.
Someone tell me what they were thinking.
Am I overreacting?
