I noticed that AT&T switched CEOs last week. Interesting time for new opportunities. I've had an AT&T phone forever... or at least since they bought Cingular, whenever that was. My husband signed us up for a landline years ago over the internet (this was like, 2005, and the cable company hooked us up faster than Verizon, the phone company). The bills were screwed up for 3 months, and they triple-billed everything that they didn't double-bill. We set it up in early April, maybe, and I think it was sorted out by mid-July. I'll check it out, it sounds awesome!

It makes me sad that answering customer calls has become a nightmare job in so many industries, because I'm getting to do it in a really great environment (highly technical, engineering) and it's a really rewarding job. I love talking to people and helping with their problems, finding creative ways to help them out, broadcasting what we learn back into the design process and being their voice. This can be a great job.

This sounds a lot like my experience with Verizon, which has really, really nice service reps who I don't think out-and-out lie, but nothing they say ever comes to pass. The auto-billing, which I had to take to get the deal I wanted, does not happen, and I only found that out when they threatened to cut off my service for non-payment. What? They broke my phone after cancelling my number and changing it to a new one without asking or telling me, then wanted me to pay to have it changed back. Restored it and somehow did it wrong so the phone would not work and they had to send a tech to figure out it was something the did at the phone messing up office. Answering machine part of phone no longer works. Cannot connect to my printer, even though it at least shows up on my Mac, but not on my Windows laptop. The bill has not once been what we agreed upon, either. Never less, of course. Between Verizon and Dell, who has the customer service from hell, I am so put off that I tend to use my ipad mini a lot more now. It at least works ( ... )
