Last weekend ohnobuffalo and I were talking about our dream giant sandwiches to pass the time on a drive to Charlotte for some antiquing. So it is Friday and I have little to do for work today, so I thought I would throw it out there to see what everyone would put on their dream sandwiches. Here is what I have come up with for mine:
My Dagwood -
Pumpernickel bread
Bates Turkey (The restaurant is a must stop anytime I pass Greenville, Al on I-65)
Bates' awesome pickles
New Braunfels Smokehouse bacon (a place my dad and I had breakfast at when visiting Texas a few years ago).
A good helping of mustard from Mr Dunderbox (an old sandwich shop that was in Cumberland Mall in the 80s).
Several pieces of Honey Baked Ham
Banana Peppers
Elliott Street Deli's oil and vinegar dressing.
A few slices of steak from Morton's of Chicago
Soft shell crab from Frankie and Johnnie's in New Orleans
Fried Duck and Aligator cheesecake from Jacquimo's in New Orleans
Lamb from Churascaria Plataforma in New York City
Some garlic mashed potatoes from Manuel's Tavern
Almond Chicken Salad with apples and grapes (The place where I work serves this in their cafeteria and it is really great)
some kalbi from Hae Woon Dae
Pressed sweet rice covered with Tak Poki sauce
Tangy Bean sprouts that they serve with Kalbi and bulgogi at Hae Woon Dae
Miracle whip mayonnaise
A piece of pumpernickel bread (Perhaps the bread should be from Mr. Dunderbox too as it was great pumpernickel bread)
That about does it, what about you?
