Thanksgiving and Friday Night Drive By

Thanksgiving was really nice. I spent all day baking rolls from scratch only to discover that the yeast in my cupboard was really old and stale. The rolls made better weapons than food. In a mad Iron Chef panic I flung my fridge open and grabbed random tasty things like butter and made a frou frou mac and white cheeze bake. It was tasty, but could have used more salt.

I had dinner at Casa Fairview, drank lots, ate lots, and had a dance party upstairs with Sabra. After the food coma overtook most everyone, Sabs and I went to the Essex Street tub. AWESOME. I love the serenity of that place. The tub was 112 degrees, easily, and people got so heated that it was possible to just walk around nekkid in the cold. Nice.

I stayed in last night to work on my term papers and at around 8pm someone with a semi-automatic opened fire out on the street. I heard 10-15 shots, hit the deck, heard a car peel off and then grabbed my shoes and ran across the lot to my neighbor's. As soon as they opened the gate to see what had happened they quickly turned around and filed inside, pulling me with them. A bloody, mess of what used to be a person was laying facedown in the gutter outside, maybe dying, maybe already dead. I'm glad I didn't look.

My adrenaline was pumping pretty hard but I managed to get more schoolwork done. Like what I should be doing right now.
