Notes: Connecting the Dots is a look at Evan's journey throughout Stargate. Overall it's approximately 38,000 words, with chapter ratings mostly hovering between PG-13 and NC-17. I began this some time ago (>1 year) and it was initially betaed by

Evan lies in his bunk staring at the ceiling.
He could not be happier with the way things have gone. Granted, being on another planet across the galaxy was never something he imagined for himself but his life so far has been good.
That is until he hit the Major Doldrums.
He had heard about them as he climbed the ranks but shrugged off the notion. It would not happen to him, he was not every other major.
His star had been rising fast, his first promotion coming a short six months after arriving at the SGC. However upon obtaining the rank of major everything stalled. Only exceptional performance or, heaven forbid someone’s death, would get him promoted now.
Highly sought after for his organizational skills and calm under pressure, he had worked with the best commanders in the program - often being given the choice of missions. And that is why he finds himself on an uninhabited planet working a mining expedition under Colonel Edwards.
Edwards is known for being a hard-ass and Evan knows that a good recommendation from him will only help his cause…if he survives that long.
“Major!” Edwards’s voice echoes through the camp, bouncing off the mountain walls.
With a sigh he rolls out of his cot and double-times it three tents away to the command post.
“Sir,” Evan says as he comes to attention in front of his commander.
“Wilson’s team found something during their excavation. Take a look at it and if it can be cleared, get it out of the way.”
“If it’s artifacts, I’ll dial the SGC to get a team out ASAP.” He salutes again preparing to leave to carry out the order.
“Lorne?”
“Sir?”
“Did I say call out the geek squad or did I say clear it?”
“Clear it, sir. But we have an obli-”
“Let me make something clear.” Though his expression hasn’t changed and his voice is just as even, Evan knows Edwards well enough to know he’s about to get his ass handed to him. “Major, I don’t care about the historical significance of the area. The only thing I care about is finding enough of this damned mineral to report back so the actual miners can show up and I can get the hell off this rock.”
“But, sir -”
Edwards slams his hands flat on the table and leans across it toward Evan. With a quick glance he dismisses the other soldiers from the tent. “You know how I feel about having my orders questioned so why are you doing it?”
“Because -”
“Rhetorical! Now, unless you want everyone on this rock to know about your former occupation and have them line up outside your tent for free rides, I expect you to get your ass out there and clear whatever is holding us up.”
Evan’s face pales and his mouth moves silently before he asks, “You know?”
The predatory smirk Edwards gives him sends shivers down his spine. “Yes, Lorne - or Pierce Hardy - I know. You have your orders. Dismissed.”
Evan turns and on shaky legs makes his way to the dig site. Upon arrival he learns that artifacts have indeed been found in what appears to be a burial site. With Edwards’s career-ending threat echoing in his head, Evan orders the items moved so work can resume.
He’s worked hard to get where he is and can’t believe that his future truly lies in Edwards’s hands. He’s never liked owing anyone or being under anyone’s thumb. One of the great lessons his mother taught him is that if you want something, it’s worth working hard to get it.
Lying in his cot again Evan wonders how Edwards found out about his past. It was supposed to not only have been kept quiet but taken care of in such a manner that no one would ever know about it. While he’s not ashamed of it, he knows that the attitudes of his comrades would make his life difficult enough that he would either be run out of the service or strung up on a rail. And this unexpected life is something he doesn’t want to lose.
---
“You found all this and you didn’t contact me?” Though Dr. Jackson’s voice is calm and his demeanor just as friendly, Evan knows the archaeologist is pissed off - and rightfully so.
“We were going to…”
“They’ve been moved.”
“They were in the way.” He says it, hoping against hope that Dr. Jackson will understand he was ordered to move them. When O’Neill orders him to continue leading the way he doesn’t know whether to be relieved at avoiding Jackson or frightened at the look of disappointment on O’Neill’s face.
“Lorne,” O’Neill calls to him once they’re in the forest. “Walk with me a minute, Major.”
“Sir?”
“Evan? What’s going on? You know better than that. You’ve contacted Daniel in the past about artifacts. Hell, you’re just about the go-to-guy when it comes to geology because you know how to keep the rock people and the history people happy.”
“Sir.” Evan takes a moment to formulate his answer carefully. “It was made clear to me that we were seriously behind on this project. I was told that if I didn’t take care of this most recent delay quickly and expeditiously certain things might come out and make my time here less about getting rocks out and more about getting them off.”
O’Neill stops and grabs Evan’s arm. “What?”
“Sir, he knows.”
“Knows what?” O’Neill asks for confirmation.
“About how I put myself through school.” Evan hopes O’Neill understands what he doesn’t want anyone to accidentally overhear.
“Shit.” O’Neill groans. He looks around to confirm they are alone. Seeing Teal’c has stopped with the rest of the group a few yards away, he motions for them to continue walking. “How does he know this?”
“I don’t know. I’m not trying to blame anyone but I was promised this would never be an issue if I joined. I love what I do, Colonel, and I don’t want that jeopardized. I don’t mean to get anyone in trouble but I don’t want to have to look over my shoulder if I remain here.”
O’Neill sighs. “Evan, I understand why you don’t want to be put in that position but why didn’t you tell me?”
“Because, Colonel, I do not go outside of my chain of command with complaints.”
“I don’t say this often - in fact I think this may be the first time - but if you ever have a problem, Evan, contact me. I can be discrete. Besides, you’re more of a leader than that dickwad will ever be.”
“Thank you, Colonel, but I can’t -”
“Major,” O’Neill says with a patient but firm smile, “that wasn’t a request. It was an order.” His smile turns into a smirk.
---
With his lack of cultural sensitivity Edwards was found to be a hindrance to the completion of the mission and a week later Evan was paired with Colonel Caldwell for the remainder for the project. Though every bit the hard-ass Edwards was, Caldwell, he finds, is much more willing to listen and negotiate.
With coaching from Dr. Daniel Jackson, Evan becomes a valued liaison between the Unas and Caldwell.
“Major,” Dr. Jackson calls to him.
Evan turns to see Colonel Caldwell approaching with Dr. Jackson. “Doctor Jackson.” Evan smiles. “I didn’t expect you back so soon. What can I do for you?”
“Nothing. I just had some time off and came by to check up on you. How’re things going?”
“Overall, pretty well.”
“Major,” Caldwell begins. “Doctor Jackson is here to visit Heka and his clan. Would you please escort him to their settlement?”
“I’ll be happy to, Sir.”
Caldwell excuses himself to return to the command post.
“You have a much different dynamic than with Edwards,” Dr. Jackson comments.
“Yeah, Caldwell’s a decent guy. Tough, but fair.” He lowers his voice to make sure no one hears his next statement as he leads Dr. Jackson away from camp. “I think Caldwell is beginning to take advantage of the Unas. But we’ll see how things go in translation.” He winks conspiratorially at Dr. Jackson.
Dr. Jackson laughs. “Major, you are supposed to translate everything faithfully not use it for your own means. But that’s how the best negotiators are made. So how are you doing?” Dr. Jackson asks once they’re outside their camp.
“Good. Heka and his clan have accepted me. I would almost say we’re friends.”
“That’s good. But how are you, Evan? Things okay with Caldwell?”
“I’m doing well and I actually like Caldwell. We have pretty similar command styles. I think he’s going to be good for the mission.”
“Good.” They walk in silence for a moment before Dr. Jackson speaks again. “You might be interested to know Edwards has been demoted for using privileged information to advance his own goals.”
“What?” Evan tries to hide his surprise under indifference.
“Yep.” Dr. Jackson intentionally does not look toward Evan. “He apparently used his knowledge to coerce and bully subordinates into doing things that may not have been appropriate.”
“Wow.”
“And he’s been told if any of that information ever comes out not only will he be dishonorably discharged but charges of violating secrecy acts will follow.”
Evan takes a breath. “Did O’Neill do that for me?” He asks softly.
“Jack?” Dr. Jackson stops and looks at Evan. “Why would he have anything to do with it?”
Evan turns to face Dr. Jackson and sees an expression of genuine confusion on his face.
“I can’t say.” He sighs while looking away.
“All right,” Dr. Jackson says as they continue their journey. “Then let me tell you what I know.
“There was a young man who was a fellow at the University of California, San Diego in the archaeology department. He taught undergrad classes as a Teaching Assistant. One day, he saw a male student walking between classes that he found very attractive. The student had long brown hair and the most incredible blue eyes. The TA never got up the nerve to speak to him but watched him from afar.
“A few months later, the TA was at a club attending a party held by a friend. It wasn’t the type of place he normally hung out in but it was a close friend so he went. To his surprise, he saw the student performing on stage.
“He found out that the student danced just to keep himself in school. After that, his thoughts were bent to trying to find ways to get the student off the stage.
“Unfortunately, he was tapped for a secret project before he could bring anything to fruition but his thoughts remained with the student, hoping he didn’t lose focus.”
“You knew?” Evan’s voice is soft. “And you never said anything?”
“Why would I? How could I? ‘Hi. I’m Daniel and I used to ogle and fantasize about you when you were in school.’ Not exactly an endearing comment.”
“Very true.” Evan laughs before becoming serious. “So how did Edwards know?”
“I don’t know. I overheard him bragging to another commander about how he used info about your past to get the ‘too-perfect major’ to buck protocol. While I don’t know exactly what he knows, I knew you couldn’t risk anything like that coming out so I went to Hammond. Evan,” he gives Evan a fond look, “just know there are people out there pulling for you. As long as you keep doing what you know to be right, there will be people to back you up.”
“Thanks, Doctor Jackson.”
“Daniel.”
“Thanks, Daniel.”
Finally reaching the Unas settlement, Evan and Daniel visit with Heka and the rest of the clan. Daniel is impressed with the progress Evan has made with the group. When Evan shares a joke with the group, Daniel doesn’t hide his surprise.
“What was that?” Daniel asks as they leave the Unas to return to the mining camp. “Joking with the Unas? I don’t even do that with Chaka.”
“What can I say? I’m charming like that.” Evan gives him a wide smile.
Daniel laughs lightly. “Yes you are. And modest.”
They walk in silence for a moment before Evan speaks again. “So long or short?”
“What?”
“My hair.” Evan runs a hand through his conservatively styled hair. “Do you like it better long or short?”
“They both have their merits. When it was longer, I think it brought out your eyes. But now you’ve got a whole different vibe going. I bet you look great in your blues.”
Evan doesn’t miss the less than platonic once over Daniel gives him.
“I think I do.” Evan blushes. “I found this spot that’s rather secluded that looks out over the valley. I like to go there before I go back to camp - a little quiet time. Want to take a look?”
Daniel smiles. “Sure.”
Evan guides him through the trees a short distance up a hill before reaching an outcropping of rock.
“This is nice,” Daniel says as they sit on the edge, looking out at the scene before them.
“Yeah. I like to come here and take a few minutes for myself.”
“I wouldn’t mind taking a few minutes of your time, either.” Daniel winks at him.
“Oh, really?” Evan gives Daniel a coy glance. “What would you do with, say,” Evan shrugs, tossing out a number, “five minutes?”
Daniel leans close and lowers his voice seductively. “I’d convince you to give me another twenty-five.”
“Well, Doc, the clock’s ticking…”
Daniel leans in and gives Evan a light kiss that is instantly returned with the same tenderness and care.
“If I had known a kiss from you would be like that,” Daniel sighs when they separate, “I would have built up the courage to ask you out years ago.”
“Are you intimidated by me?”
“A little. But it’s more a case of the reality living up to the dream.”
“Well,” Evan teases, “we have twenty-five minutes. I can help you with that dream.” He leans forward to press Daniel onto his back.
Daniel, however, does not yield. He smirks as he feels Evan continue to push against him.
“Don’t get me wrong, that would be nice but that’s not what I want to do.” Daniel forcefully pushes Evan onto his back and lies on top of Evan, holding him down. “My dream has more to do with me pleasing you…letting you feel pleasure for once.” Leaning down, Daniel gives Evan another kiss, this time deeper and longer. He presses himself into and rests his full weight on Evan. He whispers into Evan’s ear, “You’re going to remember this for quite some time.”
To Evan, that is the most arousing thing he’s ever heard. However he’s used to being the dominant one. He struggles against Daniel to no avail, surprised at the archaeologist’s strength.
“Please, Daniel,” Evan begs. “Just let go. I want to touch -”
“No,” Daniel says softly but assertively directly into Evan’s ear. “You’re not in charge here, Evan. I am. Just sit back and enjoy the ride.” With that said he takes Evan again in another kiss, this time forceful and demanding. “Besides, you need to be punished for those artifacts.” He gives Evan a fierce look that does not hide how annoyed he is with their removal.
Leaning back down to kiss Evan, Daniel begins kneading Evan’s erection through his pants. When Evan begins moaning into his mouth, Daniel pulls back and opens Evan’s fly. Alternately stroking Evan’s shaft and stimulating his crown, Daniel teases Evan’s cock mercilessly until it is visibly throbbing. As Evan begins to beg for more, his precum flowing freely, Daniel gives a wicked grin as he stops touching Evan’s cock. Collecting some of Evan’s essence on a fingertip, Daniel begins probing Evan’s tight hole using it for lubrication.
“I’ve, uh, never…” Evan stutters, trying to squirm away from Daniel’s insistent fingers.
“Don’t worry,” Daniel whispers into Evan’s ear, using his body’s weight to limit Evan’s movements. “These fingers know their way around more than artifacts.” With determined pressure he finally inserts a finger into Evan’s body.
“Oh, ah, ahh,” Evan vocalizes from the intrusion. While not as painful as he expected there is just enough discomfort to make his body tense.
After a few thrusts Daniel pulls his finger back out and coats two of them with the fluid trickling down Evan’s cock. Working them back in, he begins to finger fuck the young man, slowly increasing his speed as he speaks. His mouth turns up in a dirty smirk, enjoying the sounds of pain and pleasure Evan is making.
“You’re so beautiful,” Daniel murmurs. “And just think I only have two fingers in you. Someday it’ll be my cock in there fucking you, doing to you what you’ve done to so many others. Do you remember their faces? The looks of fear when they finally saw this big fat cock of yours, knowing where you were going to stick it? You must think of how great they felt around you - the tight, warm heat of them as they opened for you. Especially when it was their first time. I bet it gets you off at night when you think about it. The power you held over your conquests just by standing in front of them. I know I was aroused when I saw you dancing on that stage, wondering just how big you get. Your beautiful, toned body, that big package…” The thrusting of his fingers becomes more brutal. He lowers his voice to a guttural whisper, “I’m happy to know…I’m still bigger than you and will tear you apart when I get in there.” He flicks his finger over Evan’s prostate as he finishes his statement.
With a cry Evan begins to shoot in orgasm. His body convulses but with Daniel lying atop him he is unable to move much. His immobility heightens his sense of helplessness.
Daniel continues to slowly move his fingers within Evan, allowing the airman to ride out the aftershocks. Only when Evan’s breathing is under control and his spasms have stopped does Daniel pull out. “So?” Daniel asks.
“Incredible. Every time I see your hands I’m going to think about where they’ve been.”
“Yeah.” Daniel laughs. “And just think about the fact that I didn’t touch your dick for most of that time. One day, Evan, I’m going to do to you all the things I’ve wanted. If you’re half as responsive when I really fuck you, I’m sorry but you may not survive.”
“I believe it.” With nothing available to wipe himself off, Evan removes his pants and underwear and uses the briefs to clean the mess.
“These are mine,” Daniel says as he takes the soiled undergarment from Evan. After giving it a quick sniff, he uses it to clean off the few spots of friendly fire that are on his shirt before stuffing it into his back pocket as he gives Evan a wicked grin.
Evan stands after pulling up his pants and presses himself against Daniel, giving him a final kiss. He reaches his hand down to cup Daniel’s crotch and gasps at what he feels.
“Told you.” Daniel smirks down at Evan as he removes Evan’s hand. “But not now. I’m going to make you wait for it. When I finally take you you’re going to be vibrating with anticipation.” He spins Evan around so he can press himself against Evan’s back, slowly rocking his arousal against Evan’s ass. “One day I’m going to sneak up on you, bend you over and just fuck you. It might be in a room in the SGC; it might be here in your tent knowing someone could walk in at any moment. Hell, I could take you in front of Heka and just tell him it’s one of our rituals. But no matter what, you’re not going to see this cock until after I’ve shot a load up your ass.”
Evan moans. “That’s just cruel.”
“I know.” Daniel circles one hand around Evan’s body, holding him tight and with the other hand he twists Evan’s head back and takes him in a possessive kiss. “But I guarantee you’ll love it.”
“Don’t you need to take care of that?” Evan asks as they set off for the camp.
“No. Well, yes. There’s a certain colonel that will be reaping the benefits of this visit.” He laughs to himself. “Even after all these years it’s fun to watch him struggle when I take him.”
“Dr. Jackson,” Evan says with an affected air of shock, “I’m surprised to hear this about you. You’ve just broken any notions I had about you being a good boy.”
“Believe me, I am good. And one day you’ll find out. But until then you’ll just have to wonder.”
As they approach camp their conversation becomes more neutral, Evan easily slipping back into his role as major.
Dialing the gate for Daniel, Evan watches as the archaeologist steps through before reporting to Caldwell.
After a quick debrief and receiving an update on the mining operation, Evan returns to his tent for the night.
While he strips down to his boxers and undershirt, he thinks about what it would be like to actually get fucked by Daniel. Finally lying on his cot he strokes himself to completion, quickly falling asleep from exhaustion.
