Weekend background radiation

Jul 13, 2009 08:31

Due to some random power outages (storms and heat related), we only have records for the weekend this week.
The average background radiation count since Friday was 11.63 CPM.
The average for the past hour was 11.80.
The minimum was 3 CPM, which happened twice, once on Saturday at 12:53 in the afternoon, and once on Monday morning at 1:47 am. The maximum was 24 CPM, which also happened twice, once on Saturday at 11:35 am, and once Monday morning at 33 minutes after midnight.
Interestingly, both maximums happened an hour or so before both minimums, and near the noon and midnight time frames. I should put together a bunch of these records, and correlate for time and see if there are regular patterns depending on the time of day. There should be, but the maximums and minimums should happen about 12 hours apart - not an hour or so. At noon, the Sun is in a direct line with the surface of the Earth, and at midnight, the spot on the Earth is furthest away from the Sun. At 6 or so, am, the spot on the Earth is at the "bow" end of the spaceship Earth as it travels around the Sun in its journey, and at 6 pm or so (adjusted for season, daylight savings, etc., etc.) the spot on the Earth is at the trailing end, or "Stern" of the Earth. There ought to be a regular pattern.
