HORROR UPON HORRORS! WAITING FOR THEIR GOVERNESS!

Jul 03, 2008 11:48

My parents took Alex and my cousin Mark to the cottage today, and asked if they could borrow Heroes and some other DVDs for rainy days/boredom situations. I promptly got out boxes of The Simpsons, Futurama, and The Office, and said, "Which seasons?"

I'm like the TV crack dealer of the family.

I want to see Get Smart. My parents loved it and I like Steve Carell and I'm easily amused, so.

If Staples doesn't call me back and hire me today, I may have to take a melancholy walk near the escarpment. Staples, my life is in your hands. Okay, I'm not being serious, but still. THREE INTERVIEWS, FOUR WEEKS. Don't you think you've dragged on the "possibly-hiring-you-maybe-if-we-like-you" process for long enough? Lisa needs a job NOW. Lisa is desperate. Lisa is talking in third-person and sort of hates herself for it.

Also, I finished reading Agnes Grey and I kind of love how sarcastic Anne Brontë is. Quoted directly from the text:

" ... I had, as it were, to keep my loins girded, my shoes on my feet, and my staff in my hand; for not to be immediately forthcoming when called for was regarded as a grave and inexcusable offence: not only by my pupils and their mother, but by the very servant, who came in breathless haste to call me, exclaiming, 'You're to go to the schoolroom directly, mum - the young ladies is WAITING!!' Climax of horror! actually waiting for their governess!!!"

lol, excessive exclamation mark usage ftw. I half expect Agnes Grey to follow this passage with a "bitch, plz".
