Okay, I pretty much fail at posting. I have so much to say but my lack of motivation prevents me from actually clicking "Update Journal" and typing some words into a text box. Someone, please remind me to post my birthday picspam soon. Srzly, before November turns into December.
What's the main focus of this post? That would have to be MEETING THIS MAN after the taping of
THIS SHOW:
We parked beside the CBC building and ohoho, appropriate advertisement on the left.
MR. DRESSUP OMG. And the CBC museum. I kind of love the CBC. Don't ask why. Public broadcasting ftw.
I bought a CBC Radio Canada t-shirt because I'm just that cool. Except, you know, not.
THE SET.
Alex was SO EXCITED that he refused to look at the camera. :\
A little bit after 8pm, the director came out to explain the taping process to the audience. He made us all seem very cheerful and it was amusing in some totally unamusing way. AND THEN RICK CAME OUT OMG. Indeed, he's quite a short man, just as everyone says, but it seems as though he's eternally energetic and funny. And he's cute. And just slightly flamboyant. Rick Mercer for PM? He'd have my vote.
"So, we're going to show the opening titles, zooming in from outer space-"
"Very pretty."
"And then we'll see Rick up on the roof of the CBC building, holding a sign with the date-"
"I'm up there right there, Bob."

This is the clearest of the "during filming" photographs. :\ I couldn't use the flash, obviously, because that would not go over very well with the studio people.

So, the show ended and it was hilarious and I can tell people about spoilers (loooool spoilers for the Mercer Report) if they want (the two remotes take place at Western University and Medieval Times; the bit with the wind tunnel at Western is A+ AWESOME). Unfortunately, we'd heard that Rick might not have time to do autographs and pictures after the show as he normally does, because he had to go straight to the airport to go to the West Coast. This was disappointing news, but what can you do. My family shuffled out of the studio, still beaming at how much fun we'd all had during the show. Alex and I pointed at the various photographs of Canadian comedians along the wall as we headed down the hallway to the elevator. Colin Mochrie, Wayne & Shuster, Mike Myers, the Air Farce bunch, the original 22 Minutes gang, and so on. Fun times.
AND THEN!
I did a bit of a flaily thing when we went into a foyer area and saw Rick signing things and posing for pictures with people. After all, he looked pretty exhausted and he was in a hurry to get to the airport, so the fact that he still stayed behind to do a meet and greet? :'( So awesome.
Signing Alex's ticket. Aww.
I'M POSTING THIS AGAIN BECAUSE IT MAKES ME HAPPY.
And I suppose this is important.
Overall, A+ FUN TAPING WOULD ATTEND AGAIN. Seriously, I am going to try to go again next year because I'm dorky enough to get excited over something like this.
Also! Everyone who has access to the CBC: the show airs tomorrow night at 8pm. I urge all to watch it; perhaps you'll hear my ridiculously loud laugh. :o Even if you don't have access to the CBC, you can watch the clips on the
website after the show has aired.
Other things worth mentioning:
I'm going to talk to the family doctor about my OCD, which should be quite interesting.
one more week of classes!
using some of my Chapters birthday gift certificates from certain fabulous people (♥), I bought Bleak House because it's been ages since I've read a proper piece of fiction. Textbooks for the lose, please.
I watched the second episode of Torchwood and I'm sad because I don't find the show nearly as entertaining as the rest of my flist seems to.
less than a month until Christmas wtf!
I still have so much to do. Oh dear. D:
