The past few days have been busy. In short: work was really stressful and unpleasant on Friday and Sunday, we went to Niagara-on-the-Lake for a Fort George ghost tour last night (Mother's Day, mum likes ghosts, etc.), and I have lots of homework to do.
Oh, and! I FINALLY HAVE A CELL PHONE.
As you can see, it's red and shiny and very pretty. I chose this one, partially because of the colour, and also because it was free, thanks to some Mother's Day offer. The case and charging chord were also free, and the plan is fairly cheap, so it's not going to dent my paycheck too much. Anyway, if I ever get myself into an inconvenient situation, I won't be completely doomed. :D
Additionally, I now own a purse! It's nice and blue. I feel girly for once, omg.
Rise of the Cybermen thoughts with spoilers, because I only just watched it (the internet was wonky on Saturday night and I wasn't at home for most of Sunday, so).
haha, Barty Crouch Sr. is the villian. The one exchange, while slightly stupid, was funny:
"How will you do that... FROM BEYOND THE GRAVE???"
"I don't understand, sir D:"
"*zzzAP*"
poor Mickey. I love him so very much now. Rose and the Doctor were doing the "annoying couple thing", where a couple is all giggly and cutesy together and they're rude to everyone else, and I totally empathize with Mickey because GOD IT IS ANNOYING. It probably would have been a cuter Doctor/Rose moment if they'd been on their own.
the TARDIS could not be dead because she makes the show possible, but still! The Doctor called her "she" and it was sweet.
Rose ran off to angst about stuff, and while I do find her story kind of sad, it's frustrating to think that she hasn't really learned her lesson from Father's Day. But whatever. It made a Ten/Mickey moment possible.
this scene = this? The scene lacks the face grabbing in the final version, I guess. How sad.
akdsf;hg the Doctor finding the little glowing part in the TARDIS was adorable and so Doctory, especially this expression.
This scene was quite sad. Poor Mickey, I sort of wish the Doctor had run after him instead. Rose, you are not the world. Is it so difficult for these three to stick together? Splitting up is always trouble in everything ever. Splitting up equals uh-oh moments.
The Doctor runs off after Rose and Mickey sadly watches him go. Unrequited love, obviously. :(
Rose's (new) phone does some funny stuff and it gives the Doctor an excuse to bring out the beloved glasses. They spend some time discussing Mickey's angst, too, and it emphasizes that the Doctor and Rose need to pay more attention to their surroundings.
MICKEY'S GRANDMOTHER WAS KICKASS. MOST AMAZING WOMAN EVER, PLEASE SOMEONE MAKE HER BECOME A COMPANION OMG
I must admit that Mickey's angst made me cry a little bit. :\
More plot happens, along with a really creepy scene in which the cyber conversions take place, and the henchman in charge grooves to "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" while people are being butchered for science. This was all very disturbing, which is always delightful.
'sup, Davros.
ENTER THE TUXEDO! And Rose being jealous because the Doctor spoke to another female, omg. I laughed, in a "oh god, Rose, plz give it a rest" sort of way.
"We named the dog Rose." LMFAO BURN. The Doctor seemed to agree.
Mickey is nearly naked, and he's talking to his identical twin, so this was kind of like The Island but not really. Alternate!Mickey's angry face was hilarious.
Why on earth did the Doctor remind me so much of Indiana Jones here?
Rose talking to her dad was kind of cute and a bit sad. When she spoke to her mum, though, that was depressing. :( I guess she should've known that her mum wouldn't react too well if she started trying to give her marital advice, but still, it would be weird to adjust to a different version of your mother.
I love this scene/expression/look/EVERYTHING, a;dsfldjfg
CYBERMEN OMG. Not from Mondas, because they're alternate universe Cybermen and apparently people forgot about the whole alternate universe thing during the Doctor Who fandom's usual process of picking apart every episode.
The Cybermen aren't as scary as the earlier ones (I don't think they'll ever be as frightening as the very first Cybermen, yes I am scared of those, IT'S THE MOUTHS), but they're hardcore nonetheless.
Two Mickeys; Rose is clearly getting naughty ideas. Unfortunately, they are surrounded. The Doctor remembers that these Cybermen are AU, and he realizes that they are in a bit of a pickle.
All in all, it was mainly a plot episode and it's probably going to get more interesting in the next part. Cliffhangers are fun and I enjoyed this one.
Something worth noting: the new series should have an episode where the Doctor and Rose are accused of a crime that they didn't commit. This is because it always seemed to happen to many of the previous Doctors (ie. in Earthshock, Planet of Evil, Kinda, Black Orchid, the Robots of Death, etc.).
I need to post more. :( My life is busy in a very boring way.
