School of International and Area Studies,
Don't blow smoke up my ass, seriously. Why is it, last semester you tell me the trip to istanbul will take care of my study abroad requirement and this semester you tell me it won't. I hate to be a fatalist about the situation, but that trip looks to be effectively cancelled.  Sucks too, I could have graduated this fall.

Smooches,
Marcus

Aside from that:

Here is what you should be listening to by virtue of the fact that I'm listening to it:

Dead Child-  Dead Child EP
This is a metal band from Louisville Kentucky. Sounds like awesome. I don't even like metal all that much but this stuff is great.....oh, and they're called Dead Child.

Calle 13- S/T
I found out about these guys last summer from the TA that was instructing my Spanish class. Hailing from Puerto Rico, Residente and Visitante are stepbrothers who make music to shake your ass to. I think they are popular in the clubs, but I couldn't tell you from first hand experience; I never seem to meet the dress code at Opie's. Check out Tengo Hambre first, but listen to the entire album. They have a new one coming out on the 27th of this month.

Black Lips - Let it Bloom
Fantastic garage music from ATL and surrounding areas.  I may have jumped the gun when I told Sowers that they sounded like a cross between the Mummies and the Sonics, but dammit they are good. This album in particular is amazing.

Other stuff:
Syke! show last night was a lot of fun, but when are those fuckers going to play some godfearing shit from the 70's? Probably never, and it isn't because they are an 80's cover band, its because they are total pricks, especially Joey.

Dinner was: Cheese tortellini, organic marinara, steak tips sauteed with red bell pepper and onion. Delicious.

P.S. anyone got good marinade recipes? gimme.

tortellini, black lips, critical failure of academia, dead child, calle 13
