Spring break is fast approaching and I couldn't be more excited. Andrew Swanson and I are going to Ft. Collins, CO for about five or six days. While we are there, family will be visited, microbreweries will be toured, Ghostface Killah will be witnessed, slopes may possibly be carved, and the beautiful scenery of Fort Collins will be absorbed...via osmosis. I have needed to get out of Norman for a little while and take a breather from school, work, being a shut-in, what-have-you. I can think of nothing better than having a blast in one of America's great natural, beer-filled playgrounds under the guise of 'just visiting family' to remedy this. It will give me time to step back and get a better focus for school. The past two weeks have been filled with stress and dissapointment taking the form of two history papers. I am not a very confident writer. In fact, I have a morbid fear of writing college essays. I don't feel that I was schooled very well in the art of essaying at Rose State College. I think back to a time when a woman, who shall remain nameless, but bears a striking resemblance to Sam Kinison, was my comp 1 professor. She was at the point of her professing career where she had stopped caring. I went in for consultation on my paper and she tells me this: "I gave you a B." I thought this was fantastic, but she followed it by saying, "it wasn't great, but at least you can form complete sentences." This was a mere prelude to the joy this woman had instilled in the entire class for the duration of the semester. The woman gave us a formula for a simple thesis, kind of a plugin-in-the-variables-of-your-paper type thing. She did not however, bother to instruct us in the art of actually producing a good thesis on our own, or give us any pointers on style or cohesiveness. The comp 2 teacher wasn't any better, but she was nice. Anyhow, bullshit aside, I suck at writing papers and they scare me(it remains questionable whether I write anything very well, but I'll save that for some other time). There is only one downside to this whole vacation; that is the spectre of another paper for my Eastern European history class looming in the distance. Dr. Nitzova, who is a fantastic professor, has already handed the assignment sheet for the essay. I am not going to be idle for this one, Im going to attack it full-force, and if anyone is willing to give me some pointers or do some editing, it would be much appreciated. I am going to post pictures from Colorado throughout the week, hopefully that will cut up a bit of the monotany of the last gajillion posts I have made.
That's all.
P.S. I actually do look forward to visiting my sister and nephew.
P.P.S. If anyone is so inclined, I am bored at work and stuck at southgate this evening, visits would be awesome.
