I've spent the past two months debating about getting one myself. Like you it's not going to replace my turntable nor will I dj with it, I just think it would be great to take my music with me! Which one did you get? I don't really know the difference between one or the other.
I got the newest apple Ipod with 30 gigibite and it plays video so you can watch 60's movies, old videos and old t.v. shows. it's about 200 dollars, but I'm sure the price will come down, and I think it's worth it. I've already gotten 200 dollars worth of fun, and I"ve only had it for 2 months.
oh yes, you should get one! the key thing is the shuffle mode. it's like having every mix tape you ever made all in one thing and it's better cause it's Random. and if you get tired of a song, you can just delete it.
I went through exactly the same thing last year. Bought an Ipod over xmas, dug it for about 5 mths and now it sits in the cupboard collecting dust. Once the novelty fades, it becomes more of a pain than entertainment.
Face it - we're both vinyl people. We're too old to understand all this ipod culture.
you've got a point there. I'll always be a vinyl record person formost. I'm qa little too long in the tooth to fully understand the digital age, still, every once in a while something comes along that actually clicks with me in the digital world--ebay, youtube, and ipod...well! that makes three! oh yeah, and myspace. haha! yeah, it's a novelty that I've been asking myself how long it will be before I burn out on...but! it's a handy one for mass transit...
yah!! enjoy yer iPod! i was always anti-iPod til i moved to new york. it def improved my life. like u i love shuffle and it will never replace the joy of vinyl. sometimes i think i want to get one of those usb turnables so i can put rare vinyl tracks on my iPod.
not yet. but kerri loaned me her itrip thing and I play my ipod over the radio in my kitchen while I'm cooking. with all the old radio adds and jingles and shows I put on there, it's fun. it beats listening to National public radio, 24 hours a day, which is pretty much the only other option. I'm going to try the i-trip on my drive to new orleans. art! you should drive with me!!! I"m going to stop in mempho and probably oxford towne.
