World of Weirdcraft IV

a/n - I just found the webcomic 'Looking For Group'. Wheee! That's quite disturbingly close to the inside of my head. The bits that don't look like 'Girl Genius', anyway...

*grins* So am I. Untrammelled crazy-time.

(Looking at your 'House' icon. Now he'd be a 'Miracle Max' type character...)

This is so good, your imagery is wonderful as always. It's funny I have just finished watching The Lord of The Rings trilogy and this story seems to fit so well into that world. Love your work spaceanjl.

*cough* yeah, well, I first read 'The Hobbit' when I was 5, and I think a little dial in my brain is permanently stuck on 'Middle Earth'. 'Taru' is bastardized Sindarin for 'lord/king', after all...

Mostly, I think this is generic sword'n'sorcery with a liberal side-order of batcrap crazy. Kane, Elric, Conan...I like to kick it old-school ;)

Hmmm, where have I read the phrase 'batcrap crazy' before? I still cannot believe someone is filching your work on f.f.net. Some people have no standards whatsoever.

*grins* The cussin' ain't new...

The juxtaposition of 'filching your work' and 'no standards' could be taken the wrong way here... (joke)

Actually, yeah, I'm pissed off, but what can I do? I always thought the point of fanfic was exploring new ideas and angles, not simply rehashing, but, meh, I'm not losing money and they're not making it, so maybe I should learn to let it go.

Still loving the twists to canon here! ;) Of course Howard still can't look at pickled herring. Hee!

My seminar this fall is going to be about Medieval outlaws and the law, so I feel like this is very, very good prep!

Oh, cool! Are you doing the literature (Piers Plowman etc) route, or the origins of English law?

(My lecturer got partway through explaining trial by combat using me and another student as examples, and then paused and said, 'well, actually, no, that wouldn't work, because Liz would cut you to pieces...' So nice to make an impression...)

Lit! :) We're doing Piers Plowman (this is my second time with that one, so thankfully I'm a little familiar), reading up on some outlaws, and going through the Magna Carta, to start. My prof's got a few more surprises planned for us. It's even cooler that he looks like an Anglo-Saxon himself! He's this really big dude with big boots, hair that *almost* reaches thr floor (keeps it in a braid at all times), and a forked beard. XD

This is totally freaky, but I remember wondering one time if your name was Liz! (I have a lot of down time, yes? ^^) Random!

Always good to make an impression! ;) I'm wondering if, since this is a seminar, we'll get to work with some pointy things... hrm. ;) There's already the possibility of us going to an armory, so yay!

I like the idea of you as a 'little familiar' Makes you sound like an imp... ;)

This brings back memories of wading through some truly horrible handwriting. Dodgy Latin, bad French and some Early English that looked scarily reminiscent of modern txt-speak.... Pointy is always good, I'm a big fan of pointy.

(I like to comment on the fact that my name means 'Consecrated to god' - which one is not completely clear, but it is probably something evil and baby-eating...)

"...some small, scuttling things to play with..."

"You ravished me."

"You seduced me."

Your imagination conjures up such wonderful words that paint great stories allowing your readers to easily picture them.

I think it's safe to say that if anything reminds you of LotR, Labyrinth, Legend, or anything Harryhausen, well, yeah... ;) I'm going back to my roots. I started out in this genre, and I think my brain defaults to dragons.

The fun of this is, there are quite a few other shows that could cameo - a world of pirates, elf-lords and smartass magicians holds endless possibility. Nothing is safe or sacred once my horrible little mind gets hold of it.
