jason and i are now completely moved in to our new apartment. it is located on the north side of chicago at 6818 N. Wayne, if you care to visit. it is a tiny studio with black and white checkered floors, bare lightbulbs and an inflatable mattress, but it's fine. spent three days cleaning and organizing the place, there's a little dressing room by the bathroom, so we've got my keyboard and synthesizer, and jason guitar and amp back there. it's nice, like a studio. makes me feel like a rock star, so i've been pretending. jason went on a little binge and has been detoxing again for the last few days. we can't get his trazadone prescription filled til next week so he's been shaking like a fucking aspen leaf and just generally being miserable, and looking the part as well. he was in no shape to go to work the last two days, i made him get up and go in today but they sent him home almost immidiately due to his absolutely pathetic appearance. i gave him some lithium, which knocked the shit out of him, so he is passed out on our inflatable bed and i am out looking for a job. i'm at the library using their computer cos i don't have internet in the apartment. the librarians here are like the people they've got down at the dmv, all fucking snarly and impatient. can't really make sense of it. libraries are very pleasant places to be. oh well. anyway, my new neighborhood isn't as bad as i thought. the landlord, his name is tom, said that it is one of the most diverse in the country. everything we need is a block and a half away--indian video store, mexican grocery store, african restaraunt, chinese laundramat and good ol fashioned american liquor and cigarette store. set. it really isn't so bad though. i need to look for a job and get back before it starts snowing here. overall, i am holding up.
much love, laura
