Here's the Deal

Dante has an abnormality in his kidneys and he's had it since birth.
This causes him to have flu-like symptoms all the time. 24/7.

Since he's felt like this most of his life, he doesn't realize he is sick. He thinks it's normal, so he has no reason to "give up".
This makes him stronger than a dog who would develop this later in life. He's lived with this for 3 years.

Because of this, I had a serious moral issue of putting a dog down who, in his mind, feels completely normal and happy.
So, we've decided to keep him as comfortable as possible until he is ready to go.

My other option was to put him on a special diet of prescription food (that the vet says most dogs would not eat and would rather starve to death) and learn to inject fluids under his skin. The vet said that this really wouldn't help him much and would be a waste of money. Taking that into account and the fact that I really don't want to put him through that, I nixed that idea.

I was thinking about trying to find some kind of holistic treatments or something online.
Right now, all he's taking is 1/4th of a Pepcid Complete once a day to settle his stomach. I'm not sure if it's working yet.
I don't know. I'm really just hoping for a miracle, I guess.

I bought him a pink elephant toy.
He seems to like it.

Thanks for your support.
