It's 8 and Erik is still sleeping. Dang that boy can sleep when he wants to (and I wish he wanted to every morning). Maybe this means he's growing. Just nifty. He's nearly grown out of his pack'n'play and I think he'll grow out of his crib before he's 'ready' to be in a bed.
I think we're doing Erik's room in a Cars theme. Erik loves Lightening McQueen. I love his dragon theme. I was torn until I realized that I like that dragons but he likes Cars and since it's his room he should have what he likes. So Cars it is. It's his first REAL interest. Thankfully there are a lot of fabrics and things for that theme. I found an awesome bedding set for his crib. It's actually for a toddler bed, but since they use the same mattress it should work out fine.
Tristan's room is still going to be the jungle theme. I think both boys will have the blue sky with puffy clouds paint job. I can buy the paint by the 5 gallon instead of the single and may save a few bucks. I'm not really sure though. I'll decide when I'm buying the paint. I'm going to take before and after pics off all the rooms. I can't wait. 24 hours and 40 minutes until we leave. I may try to talk Michele (the boy's Nonni who's driving up with us) into leaving at 4am instead of 9 am. That will get us into Fresno much earlier. I'll have to get up around 3 so I can shower and feed Tristan before we leave. We'll see what happens.
I'll be without internet until around the 25th. I'll be using my inlaws internet for bill paying and whatnot, but I won't have time for reading in depth on LJ so if any Fresno Dwellers (this mostly is for Tomica and Jenny and the perma-lurker) want to hang out you'll actually have to ring me. I'm always up for visitors, but I won't be able to meet up somewhere else unless Erik is with a grandparent, he is not at a polite age and I don't like taking him to restaurants. And if anyone gets a wild hair in their ass and wants to help me clean or paint or whatever then please call me, I can use all the help I can get.
Disneyland was kind of crappy. I LOVE my new FIL and SILs. Erik adores Aunt Angela and Aunt Richel. He seemed to just fall in love with Angela, the 11 year old (Richel is 15). His aunts and cousins (Shayla and Shania) all helped keep Erik in line. Erik also has a thing for Shayla (she's also 11). She is Koen's (Erik's nearly 2 year old cousin) favorite sister and I can see there being some competition between the two of them for her affection later on. Aunt Kelly also came to the rescue during a horrible melt down at Mimi's Cafe. Erik woke us from a short nap screaming from hunger and exhaustion. But the poor tyke was too frantic to eat or drink. So after trying to calm him outside with ZERO success Aunt Kelly comes out and shoves bits of muffin in Erik's mouth. May sound bad but it worked like a charm. Suddenly there was something to bring him into focus and he was fine the rest of the night. He did well all around as far as sleeping at night. We ended up keeping him up very late and I just put him down, talking calmly to him and sat next to his pack'n'play so he could see me and he fell right to sleep. Nap time on the other hand only happened once. The other tow days he either didn't nap or he dozed off for an hour in my lap (I eventually put him on the bed next to Daddy). Michael had a migraine on Friday and it sucked for everyone. He stayed in our hotel room and slept while the boys and I went to Disneyland for a couple of hours to give him some time alone. We did see the Disneyland Band with Mickey at the front and we enjoyed that. During the trip Erik went on the Jungle Cruise, the Rodger Rabbit ride, The Haunted Mansion (he fell asleep on that one) and Pirates of the Caribbean. Speaking of Pirates, they did change the rise. It's not too bad, but there is a little too much movie for my taste. But I'm something of a traditionalist so I don't approve of changes like that. I bought the boys Mickey hats with their names embroidered on the back and for myself a pair of earrings with Mickey heads (I've been wanting a pair for 11 years).
