"Hey, Spock. You know, even without Vulcan, you have a home. Haven't you heard the saying that 'wherever your loved ones are, it's home'?"
"I have not," said Spock stiffly, still staring straight ahead with a steely look in his eyes.
"Well, now you have." Kirk reached out and strung his arm around Spock's shoulder, giving it gentle sqeeze.
Spock didn't flinch the way Kirk thought it would, and it encouraged him to keep on going. Slowly, he inched closer to Spock.
If Spock noticed, he didn't show it, and if Spock had noticed, he didn't care.
Or, at least Jim hoped he didn't.
When he was about 3 or 4 inches away from Spock's face, Jim pulled Spock into an unexpected bear hug.
"Ya know, Spock," He said breathly into his ear, "The Enterprise is your home. I may not be your best friend, but guess what? Maybe it was fate we met like this.... and we're destined to be best friends, brothers, and who knows what else. So, come on, how about giving me a try."
A moment passed before Spock wrapped his arms around Kirk's waist, and put his head into the crook of his neck.
"Indeed"
