Woo! I was getting discouraged because, despite the massive amount of participation at Hogsmeade, I hadn't placed in anything. Also: I was promised cake by a ceeeeertain person if I won at least one contest. I'm hoping that applies to third places, too?
So, this is the post where I'll keep track of where I placed for Term 11 Hogsmeade:
Random Contest #09 - SECOND PLACE (300 pts)
My EntryI'm doing something a little different with my random contest this Hogsmeade. I'm offering up a photography challenge. Your mission is to take a picture that represents a person, place or thing that you expect to feature in Deathly Hallows. Creativity welcome within reason. No turning in a black short-haired cat and calling it Tonks XD.
Basic Photoshop work to improve lighting or play up color is allowed. However, no major alterations should be made. No addition of elements in Photoshop. No subtraction of elements in Photoshop.
ALTERNATE PROMPT :
I realize that many of you do not have cameras or scanners available, so I offer this prompt. Your challenge is to manipulate a photograph to be representative of something you expect to feature in book 7. Please be as realistic as possible. The image should not have any text. If brushes are used, it should be to make it look as though something else is in the image that wasn't there originally. Same with textures and effects.
Essay Contest #01 - THIRD PLACE (100 pts)
My EntryFace it: You're on the internet. And everyone on the internet loves to complain.
With Deathly Hallows to be released in a matter of weeks, everyone is speculating about different things they'd love to see happen in the last book-- or hate to see happen. Here's your chance to get in your complaints ahead of the crowd.
Imagine you've just read Deathly Hallows from cover to cover. Now, write a letter to JK Rowling telling her about all the things you absolutely hated about the latest book. Are you pissed that she's killed Harry? Bored with all the romance? Disappointed that Ron hooks up with Draco? Stomping your foot that Snape turns out to be Lily in disguise?
No holds barred-- anything you can imagine happening in the last book is fair game! Just remember to tell us why you hated it so much!
Fiction Contest #03 - THIRD PLACE (100 pts)
My EntryWe all have hopes for Deathly Hallows. Things we want to happen, and things we most definitely do NOT want to happen. Well, this weekend you have lucked out. Because you get to play JKR.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to write a scene in which someone (not necessarily Harry) comes across one of the remaining Horcruxes. What they do with it thereafter is entirely up to you. You can write horror, romance - even a crackfic, if that's what blows your skirt up. The only requirement is that it MUST be set sometime during the course of the 7th book.
Random Contest #14 - THIRD PLACE (100 pts)
My EntryIt has been a long time since kerplunkymonkey Dex hosted her last contest here in Hogsmeade. Older members have learned to go without. Newer members have never had the chance to experience the sheer wonderment involved. This weekend, that is to change. Because in the spirit of nostalgia, I’m bringing the music back.
The premise is simple enough. You take one of the following songs, and rewrite it so that the lyrics relate to Harry Potter, H_E, or the fandom in general. As long as your entry still bears some resemblance to the original song, pretty much anything goes
Contest Winnings Total: 600 pts.
