So it's been far too long since I typed in this thing and I imagine that with the comming of next year and my (hopefully inevitable) return to Japan (as well as a new cellphone/camera with which I can document my adventures) this journal will once again bloom with life. I don't really have much to write about right now...well I guess that isn't true. It's more like I can't imagine having the time to write down all the occurances in my daily life on a regular basis. Be that as it may, I'll try my best to relay some of the "best ofs" from these last few weeks.
Best performance on a test by a newcomer goes to: ME for passing the Japanese Language Proficency Exam (level 1) without any real review (not to mention I've been out of Japan for over 6 months and my Japanese is so rusty it creaks). I have been downplaying the test and thinking that I really didn't give a damn if i passed or not...but mostly just because i was a little shaken by the test itself (and just how many kanji compounds I didnt know on it...I mean come on...'dairy farm'?!) so when I logged into the JLPT page and saw I passed (thanks to playball for the tip btw) I was pleasantly surprised. All in all I guess the test's bark is worse than its bite and its nothing that any serious student of Japanese (with enough hours of study behind them) couldn't handle with enought man-hours under their belt. Oh yeah and those who worry about the listening portion of the test...don't. It is an absolute joke : )
Best directorial debut: Me for pulling off a 1000+ man bboy event (almost) without a hitch. There was alot of last minute panicking when brickheadz failed to show up. Chino was almost in tears when he heard he was to be deprived of waka, evol and shorty's crazy dancin' antics. IU battled against the second place team (college dropouts, aka franky, derrick and that one cincy kid who is surprisingly versatile). We all did ok but I couldn't help but feel a little dissapointed that I was so panicked against a team that we had the potential to beat. On top of it all I was responsible for the tiebreaker (which is to say I was responsible for our loss). Ground Syndrome out of chicago took the whole thing so it wasn't bad. the best part of the event tho was watching everyone bug out to "ghettomusik" which was put on perpetual loop before the MC battles.
