Jeremy comes to visit

Yay! I have a visitor! Jeremy Martin, one of my first friends once I transferred to the College of Charleston, came out for a couple of days. For those who follow my journal, Jeremy was the one who was backpacking all over Europe last year on the peace tour. The best news is he brought me a peace tour shirt - documenting all the places he went to on his ten month journey. This weekend was so busy and so much fun. His lady friend, Erin, came to join us last night and they'll be in town until Tuesday. I'm enjoying the company, that's for sure.

Here's a handy recap (and to remind myself later that I can actually get this much accomplished in one weekend):

FRIDAY:
Jeremy gets into town around 5PM. We drop his stuff off at the house and head to Wabi-sabi for some tasty sushi. Oops, should've had reservations because we had to sit at the sushi bar. Checked out Abbott Kenney while we were in the neighborhood. Head over to Rick's Tavern later for drinks. It's paradox, that Ricks - a fun low key bar, but a Yankees bar nonetheless. Dave loves to antagonize the customers. Jet lag sinks in for Jeremy so we head home around midnight to crash.

SATURDAY:
Walk the Venice Boardwalk while Jeremy (an amateur photographer) takes a bunch of pictures. Then we catch a matinee of "Little Miss Sunshine" which is good but not great. Next, we want to catch a good sunset so we head up to the Getty Center. Not the best sunset viewing spots there (it goes behind the mountain while the rest of the sky is still lit up - oh well), but we did take in the various collections which were a fun way to spend the day. That evening we grabbed some drinks and delicious Mexican food at La Cabana.

SUNDAY:
Wake up and take in a few hours of chill out time in the apartment. Jeremy and I head back to the boardwalk for more photos. We walk all the way to the Venice pier and back. There's a free concert on the boardwalk featuring Johnny Lang and Jurrasic 5. Both were fun to watch. Next we grab Dave and go to a matinee of "The Illusionist" which I thoroughly enjoyed. We head to the airport to pick up Erin and a rental car. Dave cooks a very tasty dinner for all.

MONDAY:
Dave and I have to work and I don't think we'll be able to spend much time with Jeremy and Erin as they should be at the Dave Matthews Concert at the Hollywood Bowl by the time we get off. That being one of the reasons they came out now and all.

They're heading out tomorrow, but it makes me really happy that they came to visit. Jeremy's been an awesome friend to me over the years, so it's always a pleasure to hang out with him.
