Being born on Alternia as a troll means having horns, gray skin, and a lasting disregard for life in general. Maybe part of this comes from the trials that trolls undergo after they transform from wigglers, since only the strongest (and typically least empathetic) make it out and are chosen by a lusus. The lusii are basically human parents, if human parents were each some kind of beast that dramatically influenced their child's development and occasionally ran the risk of destroying their adopted offspring. Vriska's was a gigantic spider. Like the other trolls, she was half-raised and did the other half of the raising herself, bound to keep her lusus in control just as strongly as her lusus was bound to protect her.
Vriska started out with vision 8-fold, which allowed her to see the future much like her ancestor. The Marquise Spinneret Mindfang kept a record of her travels that Vriska discovered, and Vriska took up the Marquise's tendencies and motivations. She named her FLARP character after her ancestor, taking on a kind of Captain Hook role to Tavros's Pupa Pan. Using the journals left behind, Vriska was able to find the Fluorite Octet and the Magic Cue Ball whose real owner is Doc Scratch. In truth, she and her ancestor were created at the same time out of the same ectobiology that made the humans after them, with Karkat serving as the trigger.
But without any knowledge of that, Vriska grew up tormenting her "friends." Initially, she and Terezi were close rivals as Mindfang and Redglare, and she had a hates-me-hates-me-not relationship going on with Eridan. Both of those dissolved at some point after the incident, when during one of their extreme roleplays Vriska pushed things a little too far. She took control of Tavros's mind, whose psyche had always been weaker than her own, and forced him to jump off a cliff. This put him in a wheelchair. Vriska was probably just disappointed something more interesting hadn't happened, since in messing with the other trolls she tends to accidentally make them more boring to her.
This was the case for Aradia as well. The psychic troll took personal offense to the attack on Tavros and set out to strike back at Vriska, sending ghostly spectres to haunt her in her hive. Out of vengeance, and 8ecause the ghosts scared the flying f8ck out of her, Vriska took control of Sollux's mind at a weak moment and sent him out to destroy Aradia. It was easy, since Aradia seemed to have some affection for Sollux (requited or no) and Vriska was able to coax her out of her hive and into a world of
optic 8LAST!!!!!!!! And pain. Aradia didn't survive, but virtually no one noticed, since most of the trolls were online friends when they weren't FLARPing (which didn't happen much anymore) and Aradia's ability to use a computer wasn't diminished by her death. Vriska was subsequently and constantly annoyed by how unmoved Aradia was by everything that she pulled.
This horrific act in tandem with the atrocity to Tavros didn't escape Terezi's notice, and their unity as Team Scourge stopped there. In an act of
COMPL8TE 8ETR8YAL Terezi mentioned to Doc Scratch that Vriska had something that belonged to him. The 8astard deton8ted the Magic Cue Ball all over Vriska's hand and face, destroying her left arm and eye. She was able to ask/coax/blackmail Equius into making a new, robotic arm for her (that he could sort of control, so that was not ideal), but there was nothing she could do for her lost vision 8-fold. In desperation, she turned to magic 8-balls and grew addicted to smashing them when they didn't show her the complete image of the future she'd accessed so easily before.
Vriska wrought her vengeance on Terezi's eyes, blinding her with science yet another
phenomenal mind control trick on Terezi's lusus (having used Tavros to control the lusus to control Terezi in an unspeakably epic feat of mental enslavement). And it was kind of appropri8, right? She was already Redglare, Vriska just made an honest nickname of it.
Anyway, all these things distanced her from most of the other trolls, with the exception of the other high bloods and the Eridan she just kind of lost interest in. But that didn't make her less useful, so it was no surprise that the others fell back on her when they needed another player in SGRUB. Vriska was initially all set to run the Blue Team, allying with Aradia and Equius and herself all at once, but she was roughly and unfairly booted from that team to join the Red Team, already headed by the perpetually furious and infuriating Karkat. But Vriska adapted to the new situation, and for some ungodly reason was given control over Tavros's session. Kanaya was there to ensure maiming in moderation, and once Vriska and Tavros met up in the flesh things heated up. Some very flushed or caliginous feelings made Vriska kiss him in full Pupa Pan cosplay, jilting Kanaya something harsh.
That didn't last, since Vriska had originally plotted with Equius to get Aradia into a blue-blooded robot. Equius made the mistake of equipping it with extremely red feelings for himself, and while these manifested, that and possibly the blue blood drove Aradia totally friggin' 8onkers. She took it out on Equius first and then moved on to Vriska, probably to avenge herself. Left alone with Tavros, Vriska wasn't quite dead and took control of him--choking his bitch ass when he tried to kiss her again. Taking advantage of her like that, the nerve! But more importantly, she needed him to kill her. She knew that only her death on her quest bed would result in her ascension to God Tier, so she had him bring her there and demanded over and over that he kill her in commands she forced him to write out with her own blood.
But Tavros was just...so...weak.
He left her to die, and Vriska ascended to God Tier without his help, prepared to meet with the Black King and just barely defeat him alongside the others by means of an
impossi8ly lucky roll. Their victory was bittersweet, since it planted them in the Veil with no hope of returning home and a new universe born of their efforts.
The new universe was very limited by comparison. The inhabitants seemed to have only one blood status, and only one quadrant to their extremely pity-driven emotions, but Vriska still ultimately took an interest in John Egbert. At first it was just to keep up that rivalry with Terezi, who had already helped John into an early death once and Vriska could certainly do that at least eight more times. After all, she'd already been the mechanic behind Jade's narcolepsy, which had ruined a few things here and there but nothing so major that it couldn't be undone. And in talking to John she started to develop an affection for him. Or not, it's Vriska, who knows--but it is pretty clear that she fell in love with Nic Cage, who is only rabbits away from being John himself.
But even John didn't stand in the way of Vriska's ultimate goal: fucking everything up forever. She deliberately put him to sleep before he could prototype Jade's kernelsprite, forcing the loyal Becquerel (whose very existence was also her fault) to sacrifice himself for Jade's sake. Which he did, and ruined everything, setting the stage for Vriska's planned defeat of Bec Noir. Karkat nearly blew open his brain bulge with rage.
As icing on the cake, Vriska made sure to kill John. But she did it out of love, and on his quest bed, so that he'd wake up to god tier just like she had!
All of this also ticked off Tavros, who finally grew a pair (despite having technically lost those to Kanaya, so maybe that was Equius's fault--wouldn't put it past Equius) and decided to kill Vriska himself for being such a huge fuckup.
But Tavros was just.
So.
Weak.
Obviously Vriska should've spent more time strengthening him, but against a God Tier Thief of Light he might not've stood a chance anyway. Vriska killed him and felt bad about it later.
Ultimately, she blamed Karkat for the disintegration of their temporary alliance as all twelve trolls, mainly for doing it in the first place. Trolls weren't meant to be allies in those numbers, and not when there were so many separate factions, so everyone going nuts and killing one another was a natural denouement. That said, Vriska wasn't actually aware of how many had been killed until Terezi told her to her face.
-
The Scratch didn't have the effect anyone expected. It'd also be nice to find their world again, to a degree, but since Alternia was already inaccessible and Vriska's not in particular attached to the earth that was destroyed for Skaia's sake, she's really just out to track down those pawns comrades who might still be useful, and in the meantime do what she does best.
Fuck. Everything. Up.
But none of that even matters since Tavros fucked things up and left Vriska for dead and never finished the job. Instead of becoming a God Tier Thief of Light, she died alone and wakes up in the Keep in a bed that won’t do shit.
6. Personality:
Vriska is a huge, vain bitch with a major superiority complex. I could probably end this right here.
But she’s not just that. For one, she’s presumably a Scorpio, and the number eight is of a particular significance to her, due in no small part to her vision 8-fold and eight-legged lusus. So in writing she tends to replace all her "B"s with 8s, and substitutes it in words that end in "ate," "ait," or "eight" (or in general produce an "eight"-ish noise). If she's upset, this tendency goes crazy and she just kind of puts 8s everywhere. This doesn't affect her usual speech to such a degree, though she's particularly distinct with her B's and pronounces her "ate"s (etc.) slightly separately from the word they're in to distinguish them (thus "particip-ate," "cooper-ate," and so on). It's unusual, but sounds natural to a degree, since Vriska has that pseudo-valley girl keen you hear in the most annoying girls that exist.
She has a tendency to add 'smilies' to her text and her quirk is that they share the 8 eyes of her spidery brethren. She has a preference for writing in a text that matches her 8lood color and will be attempting to regain that as soon as possi8le. ::::\
At some point after she lost her ability to see into the future, she became totally addicted to smashing 8-balls for their damningly inconsistent results. As per her lusus, spiders also play a role in her mentality, but they aren’t as important as luck. Vriska is especially obsessed with that, and loves high stakes games, which is part of the reason she’s so into FLARPing. That same morbid do-or-die interest has her fascinated by the end of the world. As a result, she’s built several doomsday devices that never quite fulfilled their purpose, but hey, everyone needs a hobby.
When it comes to her friends, it’s hard to say if Vriska has any. She’s very self-absorbed, so even if she’s honestly reaching out to someone it can backfire out of her overwhelming self-interest. She feels a lot of pressure to be the best, and to live up to her ancestor’s memory, so she can take the troll lifestyle too seriously. Her definition of motivation is closer to what humans and sane trolls would call harassment, since whenever she berates Tavros it’s supposedly to make him stronger, and maiming and killing (directly or indirectly) is not beyond her.
In short, Vriska will not hesitate to fuck every single thing up. In the universe. But she does it all out of a disarmingly genuine desire to live up to her status and race. At least, if she’s telling the truth about any of that in the first place. Because maybe the hardest thing to accept about her is, even if she sounds totally honest, there’s always that chance she’s lying her ass off.
So you just gotta get lucky.

8. Appearance:
Lookit this girl!! 9. Abilities:
Vision 8-Fold: Vriska’s left eye has an extra six pupils. Somehow this enables her to see far more precisely than the human (or troll) eye, so with a seeing eye artifact (that she doesn't have anymore) she can peer into the future or, without one, into another’s mind. She can’t do much more than look, though, and only really has access to those with extremely weak minds. She can give you a really bad headache though, if you're unlucky.
~ This will work on trolls, though only the impressssssssionable ones. (Hi, Thhhhhhholluxth >::::) ) As for humans, they can rejoice, for as said above it will work on only the most feeble minded and mediocre of them
Manipul8tion: Vriska can hijack a character's mind and take control, forcing them to do as she wants. If the character has any powers of their own, she can get them to use those as well. This one depends on the character's will; Vriska can't exercise control over particularly strong psychics, highbloods, or on strong-willed people in general.
~ If you're not a troll then you're in luck! Humans, all Vriska will be able to do is put you to sleep and wake you up. If your character is a psychic, has any notable abilities, or isn't human, she might not even be able to do that much.
Luck-stealing: Used in a manner similar to manipul8tion, Vriska can sap a character's luck and add it to her own, forcing a situ8tion to yield outcomes that she thinks are lucky. In canon, this can lead to something as simple as winning a coin flip, or as disastrous as having the floor crumble away under a monster’s feet.
~ The odds of this succeeding in the Keep are greatly reduced, like all of her other abilities. However, unlike her other abilities this one can effect anyone.
A permissions post will go up at time of acceptance and incidences will be handled on a case by case basis.

13. Writing sample - Third Person Prose:
Vriska had no idea how she got to this planet, but if she still wasted time on questions like that she’d never get to play high-stakes games with sloppy, flinty-eyed pirates. Well, they thought it was high-stakes, and to be fair that was her last eight-ball, but it wasn’t the stygian harbinger of darkness she convinced them it was. Instead it was just kind of annoying that she couldn’t smash it in that smug captain’s face. It had taken her a round to learn the rules, so now they thought they’d cheated her; which would have almost been adorable if it weren’t so pathetic. Vriska wasn't sure if they could even read, actually, so maybe it was even more useless to them than it was to her and they’d never even realize it. This pleased her and she smirked at her opponent confidently, just like she knew Mindfang would have.
He made her think of a 8izarre amalgam8tion of some of the losers from back home. Gamzee’s altered-state ramblings muddled with Karkat’s determined and pointless bid for leadership, and somewhere that infuriating glint of Redglare’s troll grin. If someone blinded him next, would he still be strong enough to have it? She wondered.
But then wasn't really a good time, because she was about to win his ship.
His dirty fingernail tapped the mug, kohl-lined eyes searching Vriska's. “Then if we’re in agreement, luv,” and he tried to sound like he was just toying with her but she was pretty certain he was unnerved, “ ‘f you win, ye get the Pearl.” There was that troll grin and the expansive wave that made the crew chuckle at the ridiculousness of the offer. “But now if I win,” with a clinking gesture as some of the baubles by his sleeve ran together, “we send ye and all ye meddlesome black magic t’ Davy Jones, no ifs, ands, or bloody Krakens about it. Savvy?”
“Jaaaaaaack.” Vriska loved the way he grimaced when she drawled like that. “We already went over this! Duh, those are the terms. Do you think I won’t cooper-ate?” Oh, right, this wasn’t Trollian. He could see her fanged smirk, so maybe that was making him a little uneasy.
His lips twitched. This was a showdown and he knew it, and deep in that black pirate soul of his he had to know that Vriska had this in the bag. “Far be it from me to accuse a…” His eyes narrowed and he made a few false starts, preceding his words with a tentative point as if he expected to get attacked by his own musings. “Lady?” For a moment Vriska saw only blackness to his lids as his eyes flicked down to his mug, as if checking the back of it for some cheat scrawled there. “Four sixes.”
Vriska was already enjoying this victory so much. He had to see it in her face, or maybe he heard it in that gradually louder, indulgent cackle she just couldn’t keep inside. All of them did, because a feeling not unlike a breeze told the troll that several of the pirates who were crowding her earlier had moved back.
"Eight eights."
He looked like she'd just cut him open and now she was so tempted. “L- Liar!” The pause was intentional and everyone could tell, but she was going to pretend that hesitation was real. He uncapped his own dice and there were two sixes there, and a bunch of things Vriska couldn’t use.
But it was too late.
Vriska felt every gritty, disgusting stain that clung to the mug as she pressed down on it with her bare hand. She wouldn’t use the robotic one for this because she wanted to feel it in her bones when it ground against the table and turned light as a feather in the most dramatic reveal of her life since Redglare took her oracle and her sight 8fold away from her. Because underneath, there they all were-the eight blue dice she'd slipped into the mug when he wasn’t looking, all proudly displaying their eight perfect white dots.
She had all of the luck.
All of it.
Vriska was drunk on it and with a laugh she pushed to her feet; she felt like she could fly right there. This ship would be her new beginning. On it, she would succeed like the Marquise before her!
