Please, people. Unless you are talking about a large, mounted gun, then the word you are looking for is CANON: "the authentic works of a writer"; "a sanctioned or accepted group or body of related works".
I've been reading several forums for different shows lately, and, man, I'd say 70% of the posts use the wrong word and it's making me scream in my head just a little bit.
