Please tell me I didn't just make a huge mistake

I went back to the animal shelter this afternoon, and came out with a kitten approximately 15 weeks old. Since I was, you know, working I had to bring him back to the office with me. That was around 2pm. It's now almost 5pm, and he hasn't stopped playing!. I've wadded up pieces of paper and paper towels for his batting around amusement, and he's ( Read more... )

Heh. My husband (who doesn't like cats and has apparently lost his mind) got us a 13 week old kitten from a guy at work who couldn't keep it. It's a little girl, and it's crazy! So far no injuries with the baby, and she and the dog almost appear to play every now and then.

But, yeah, I had forgotten how non-stop kittens were...between a baby and a kitten I'm a little worn out :P

Well, I think I did a good thing. JT & baby are already playing!

He'll crash, don't worry, and they grow out of that manic playing by the time they're one. I've had, literally, a dozen kittens in my life, and I've brought kittens into the house with older cats, and they've all learned to tolerate each other. My approximately three year old male cat when I was a kid "adopted" my brother's kitten and used to bathe him, even when they were old cats.

It's been almost two decades since I had a kitten, and I'm not sure I ever had one this manic. But I've made the intro between baby & JT, and, wow, it was a total success! I think they're really going to bond. :-)

Ziggy was like this - he was either bouncing around chasing things or fast asleep, no in between. My older female cats weren't precisely *pleased*, but they've adjusted; JT still has his kitten on, it sounds like, so they'll be playing together shortly.

Congratulations!

There was surprisingly little trauma in the introduction, and after about ten minutes I let the kitten run free. He and JT are by turns checking each other out and chasing around - mostly the kitten chasing JT. *g*

I'm hoping this is really going to work out.

He'll calm down ... eventually...

And congratulations.

Thanks! And I think JT already likes him. No hissing, and they're swatting/chasing already. *g*

CUTE AND AWESOME! You and your cat will be very happy with newbie kitten friend. (And maybe a little sleepless at first.)
