So, I wrote about the show in my secret band-stuff-oriented journal last night, and I forgot to put anything here. And since I want that one to remain secret, unlike the other one which I ruined [thanks for not unfriending me, even after I asked you months ago, Kara], I'm going to copyandpaste the main part here.

I talked to Jesse Lacey.

I hugged Jesse Lacey.

I PHYSICALLY TOUCHED THE ALMIGHTY MASTER OF ALL THAT IS EVERYTHING, JESSE LACEY.

And he signed my setlist.

Mother commented, "He seemed pretty humble, that Jesse guy."

We stood around for an hour after the show to meet him.

Brian came out too but he just went off with some chick and didn't even acknowledge the 15-20 kids standing around waiting to meet him.

There were only like 10 of us by the time Jesse got there, and he said he could only stay for a minute. Everyone got their little bit of "oh I drove from Seattle" or whatever in, except me, because I was just like *ogles teh pretty*. I wanted to say that I came from Alaska to see them, and wish him a happy birthday [I'm pretty sure it's July 10th].

But alas, I was stricken mute. Even when everyone else left but me, and he was going back inside the gate, and I could have ran up and dropped to my knees and spilled it all...

I have no spine, I suppose.

I wish there had been more light so I could have seen the pretty blooooo of his eyes.

The security guards confiscated my camera battery before the show, so no pictures. It is a bitch. I should have hidden it in my unda-wears. But I guess now I know for next time.

I forgot how intense and heavy and sweaty the crowds are at REAL shows. And I'm so damn short. People were elbow-y and mean, but I managed to "do the shuffle" until I found a little raised platform that gave me another inch or two on my five-three, and got an arm over the barricade...way over on the right where Vinnie was, but I still had a good view of everyone except Garrett, who was on the other side of Jesse and obscured by the "rock show fog."

I screamed along with EVERY WORD I knew, I swear. There were parts where the crowd sang louder than the band. It was so cool. Right after the No Seatbelt Song, Jesse started messing around with his guitar and making all sorts of noises, and I thought he was going crazy [another thing I wanted to ask when I met him: "Are you okay?" But that would have been rather awkward and intrusive and personal]. The rest of the band went offstage and he just stood there for a few minutes churning out guitar feedback. Then finally, he said "This guitar is dying. I think it's only got one song left in it. This one is called Soco Amaretto Lime."

Oh, if you could have heard the crowd scream.

At the end, after the part where "You're just jealous 'cause we're young and in love" repeats, he let the music fade out, and then he started singing "I'm just jealous 'cause you're young and in love."

I cried.

It was that intense.

Then he went offstage, and the crowd started chanting "BRAND NEW" and "JESSE" and after a bit, the band came back out and played an encore of four more songs [I find it funny how bands always pretend they're not going to have an encore, even though it's written on the setlist, just set off from the rest by a line--it was the same for the Eve 6 concert/setlist I got a few years ago].

The very last song they played was Play Crack the Sky, and after the first part of the song, during the instrumental, it got really quiet, and kids started randomly screaming out their adoration for him--"I appreciate Brand New!" "You mean so much to us!" "We love you!" It was very touching, and I almost cried again.

Ah, most fantastic.
