Mother and Father,
It's me, Kusuha. I think I've tracked down your email address correctly but...um, if this is to the wrong person, please don't read it! And forward it if you can.
Anyway...I know you told me not to worry about things like this, but with everything that's been going on everywhere, I wanted to let you know I was okay, and that...this is still hard to believe even myself...I joined the Earth Defense Force several months ago. I know you don't approve of fighting, and I hope you'll forgive me. The people here, my friends, we're all really making a difference in the world, and protecting everyone. It's very hard, and I've lost some friends...good friends...and I'm usually scared out of my mind, too, but we've done great things. And the friends I've made are some of the best, bravest, and kindest people I could ever hope to meet (one's even helping me proofread this, it's really sweet! Um, I wrote that after I had already showed it to him). Overall, I'm still scared of what might happen in the future, but in the end, I'm happy to be here, and I think everything will turn out alright in the end.
I'm writing you all this because I needed to talk to you, even for a little bit, and let you know what I'm doing. You don't need to write back if you can't...but I hope you're both okay.
