I slept until 2 pm today. I haven't done that in...well, since I was here not working. I don't know why, but I felt the need to stay up until 5 am last "night"...and most of that time was spent telling Scott about how bored I was.
So, Nashville was da bomb. We went to a bunch of very cool, very yummy restaurants. I had my first tapas at
Mirror. It was mad good and really cute. And, Zach got to try Scotch for the first time. I had to agree with him, after trying it, that it tasted like leather and rubbing alcohol. Speaking of leather, Italian fashion designer
Valentino doesn't taste like it, but he definitely looks like it. That picture's being kind to him, too. I also had my first "meat and 3" experience. Basically, you pick a meat (mmm, beef tips), 2 sides (insanely cheesy and delicious mac and cheese and sweet potato goodness), and a type of cornbread (southern cornbread doesn't seem to be as good as the mock stuff we have in the north, but that's really my only complaint with Nashville food). Among the other delicious things I put in my hole were mexican popsicles (which I will be obsessed with until I get to have them again and then probably after). You get to choose from about a million flavors (including some chocolate varieties, a bunch of fruit ones, and some slightly stranger combinations), and you end up eating this crazy tasty creamy thing on a stick. I've tried to explain it to Joel, but he just doesn't understand.
Believe it or not, we did do slightly more than eat. There was some shopping for little crap. Gathering as much of it as possible was my goal for the week, however Rach ended up with the coolest thing: a tiny
"pot belly" in the likeness of Mao Zedong. His head comes off and you can hold upwards of one whole jelly bean inside it. Genius and hilarious. We also went to the
Grand Ole Opry. There's not much to see there and, honestly, I couldn't tell you why I love the idea of that place so much, but it was pretty awesome. I spent over $40 on little craps for other people. Including a pink golf ball for Joel's sister Emily which I will be presenting to her in a tiny gift bag that says "Goodies for Jose" on it. Ahaha. Jose. There were a few issues with the trip: It was hot, I didn't have enough popsicles, there was a bug incident, Rach nearly killed us on the highway (in a scary situation she frantically moves the wheel all over the place), and I almost ripped off my toenail. But, all in all, good times. Still, it's really nice to be home.
Now, off to eat some ice cream and maybe get dressed. Maybe.
