So! recap time about thursday/friday snowboarding. We had planned about a month or two in advance, and everything went relatively swimmingly. we were all properly equipped with borrowed jackets/pants thanks to tyler, and our gear wasnt too expensive, plus our hotel+gear rental went fine too. We got to the mt. high aroundddd 1130 or so, and by time we changed our clothes and rented our gear, it was around 1230. first thing was the lift to get up to the top. It was relatively easy to get on, it just hurt to pick up your snowboard with one ankle to prop it under the other. Poor evie had a hard time getting on and off of it...one time, she even fell off at the top, and I guess a skier somehow didnt see her, and fell on top of her :') for awhile too she couldnt get up on her snowboard, so I had to stay back and help her for quite some time. i really didn't mind; its kinda what friends do, but also what boyfriends are expected to do, so I was curious as to why keegan wasn't stopping to help her. he'd just kinda whizz by and be like "do this! k later!" he was pretty confident in his abilities...even though he was on par with me after I got a run in. it took me and evie about a half hour to get down the mountain cause I didn't want to get too far ahead of her, and towards the end, she finally caught the hang of it and was going for quite a bit without falling. We went to the other side of the bunny slope, which was a bit steeper at first but evened out. I went down and started going a bit too fast, so I tried to slow myself down and it wasnt working too well...my board wouldn't turn. so I ended up eating shit and almost twisting my ankle, but I ended up being fine. I was just careful about how much speed I picked up afterward xD evie did okay on this mountain too. while me and evie went down, tyler went off to his own mountain, and I dunno what keegan did. he stopped for a bit to help evie out. Tyler came back to our mountain and had grabbed the glove that I had dropped while I was on the lift :'D oops. at least I got it back, I wouldve been miserable without it. Later, we took the bus to the other side of the mountain, where there was another easy slope. It was harder, but not too difficult. Evie had kinda forgotten how to stay up again though, and was getting noticeably frustrated. I did my best to support her, and it worked for the most part....she was still upset until keegan finally stopped and actually physically helped her out as opposed to just shouting advice at her. I told keegan and evie that I was gonna go down with tyler while they were with each other, so me and tyler went down. I managed to stay on my board the entire time, I just had to ride on the brake a bit so I didnt catch too much speed cause I didnt trust myself to stop on a dime after the incident with my ankle. We found out that it had been our last run though, so we headed back to the top via the lift, and waited for keegan and evie to reach the bottom. It took them about 20 minutes, and evie said she did better but her ass hurt haha :') she still seemed a bit bummed too, though. keegan taking a separate lift than us didnt help either. she seemed pretty terrified on the way down cause she always fell off the lift and had a hard time getting on. but, she did okay on this one. I just had to make the instructions really clear and she did relatively fine. I thought she knew what to do but coudnt accomplish it, but turns out she had no idea what to do :'D either way, we went back to the other side of the mountain via the bus. Evie said she was done, and I said that was fine, and told keegan that Id go down the mountain once more with tyler while he waited with evie, and when I got back, Id wait with her while he went down with tyler. at first he said it was fine, but later on I guess he had decided that he didnt like that plan, and said that evie doesnt "own" him. So I mentioned that it has nothing to do with ownership; it has to do with being a good friend. he didnt agree, but evie called him flat out a douche bag, and he shut up and let me go. I went down the bunny slope well, kinda got a real good feel for the board, didnt fall until the end when I got a bit close to the jump and didnt want to go over it. afterwards, I met up with keegan and evie back at the cafeteria. They werent really talking, so I let keegan go and I asked evie to go with me to the car to get my shoes so I could return my equipment. I went to grab keegans shoes for him so he wouldnt have to walk down to get em, but evie said that he didnt deserve it, soooo Id rather have a guy mad at me than a girl, so I just left em there...haha. We met up with tyler and keegan at the top, and keegan returned all his shit and we retired for the day. We checked in at our hotel, tired, sore, and hungry. we unpacked our stuff into the hotel, and we DIDNT get the mints on our pillows like we requested B| we got subway because it was the only thing nearby, and enjoyed it while watching science shows in our hotel room :} lolol. then we went down to the spa, which WASNT on, so we asked them to turn it on. they also asked us if we got our mints...which we didnt....jerks. anyway. we watched the office in our hotel room, then went back down when the spa had heated up. we met two dudes there, they were both the stereotypical "partiers," except one of them actually had some decent plans with his life. he made lots of money working for bars in miami, and hes using the money to become a massage therapist, and hes gonna open up his own clinic with his girlfriend who's a yoga instructor (: that night, keegan and evie slept in the same bed and me and tyler had to sleep in the same bed too. i slept above the covers, so it ISNT gay B| either way, every time tyler rolled over it woke me up, because rolling over isnt an action for tyler, its a process haha. then keegans stupid submarine alarm woke me up at 8am....I dont know why he had it set so loud. I went back to sleep afterwards though; he and evie woke up early to go to the continental breakfeast. When me and tyler got to the breakfeast, we found out it consisted of wrapped up danishes, cereal, bagels, and muffins. which isnt bad, but theres no "freshness" to it. I couldnt eat any of it either cause it wouldve upset my stomach. After we ate, we packed up our shit and hit the road to go play in the snow. we found a nice little area with a few hills and fresh snow, it was really gorgeous....until we tore it up, that is. I was the first one to go down, and it was pretty fun. my ass hurt afterwards, though. after keegan and tyler went down a few times, me and keegan built a ramp, which evie proceeded to go off for her first sled ride haha, she was fine though. she had a hard time climbing the mountain, so keegan had to walk in front of her and dig her steps with my shovel. (see! it DOES come in handy all the time!) later on, I made THE most epic sled run. it started from high up the mountain, came all the way down, BANKED right, which led off a JUMP that led to the BOTTOM of the mountain. it actually worked too! tyler tried it, but he went straight through the bank too...haha. Then, we had a snowball fight. all of our aims are terrible though, soooo there werent too many hits haha. we were all exhausted afterwards so we just layed down in the snow for a bit. it was sooo comfortable. keegan didnt want to though cause earlier he tried to and ended up landing facedown into ice...haha. We all dried off, and got ready for the ride home. everything was going smoothly, until tyler noticed that the rubber grip holding on the roof rack flew off.....then his snowboard flew off shortly after. luckily, noone was behind us, so no one got hurt. right when the snowboard flew off, tyler immediatly started braking and just watched his snowboard fly away. i had to remind him to get OFF the freeway before stopping though, so we pulled over. we ran down the freeway and managed to recover the rack, but the snowboard was a bit too far, so we came back to the car to go try to drive to it. Tyler and keegan saw the board get run over and tyler lost a binding. a car had pulled over on the freeway on the opposite side of us, and we think they may have been the ones that ran over the binding and got a flat...tough luck for them, I guess. anyway. we got off the freeway, took 2 seconds to rip off the other part of the roof rack, and got back on the freeway. when we saw the board, we pulled over. there was another guy pulled over in a cleaning van too, and he seemed to be helping us get the board off the freeway. tyler thanked him, but the guy said the board was his. tyler was like "no, its mine. thats why we came back." and the guy basically said we couldnt prove it. so keegan got out of the car and started to cuss out the guy, so the guy finally gave up and handed them the board. It was missing the binding obviously, and it was pretty thrashed. back had blown out, and the top and bottom was scratched pretty bad. it was still in one piece though. Tyler said it wasnt salvageable, but he can still get a few bucks for it on ebay. we put the board in the car, and headed straight home. we transferred all the stuff from tylers car to my car, I went home and evie and keegan drove their cars home. I was so exhausted, but it was a good trip. I may go again soon with my dad and sister (:
also, today was my last day at target, but more importantly, the first day I was going to see sadies in more than 2 weeks. Id been really confused as to why I hadnt heard from her, other than a single text apologizing for being busy. but, as I was getting my cart, she had just walked in and tapped me on the shoulder and asked me if I was mad at her. I said I wasnt as mad as I was just upset, and that I had just missed her. Its weird to see someone more or less everyday for a few months, then not see them at all. it only made me reflect on how much of my time I give to everybody else and how much I never get back. either way, she told me she thought I was mad at her and didnt want to bug me. doesnt make sense in my head, cause if you thought someone was mad at you for not keeping in touch, the last thing you do is NOT keep in touch....but, such is the mind of a woman. we talked a bit, caught up with each other, and I just kinda let it all sink in again. for awhile, it seemed like all the time we spent together really hadnt happened or something, it had been so long. but, here she was again, just like the first time we met; the day before I was gonna leave for an extended amount of time :') we were putting up signs in HBA later, and she walked up to me and sincerely apologized and gave me a hug, which is basically just what I needed. I felt like that part of my life was now, more or less, balanced again. I had feared the worst, hoped for the best, but experienced something in the middle. I guess I cant ask for much more since we're both busy people. either way, we talked more on our break, and she hung out with me for a bit on her lunch, too. we just kinda caught up the whole time, talked about each others lives and the problems we were having and exchanged solutions. it was nice, im glad I got to see her again. hopefully we'll be able to hangout sometime later this week :')
anyways, as far as target goes, today was my last day. it felt really weird....my last day making signs, my last day working early in the morning before the store opened, my last day using my beloved LPDA, the last day legitly using my discount, my last day working with my coworkers, my last day clocking out on that old piece of shit plastic time clock...it all felt lucid. I almost didnt want to sign out of my LPDA :') but, I had to. and I had to clock out on time. I didnt feel like I got my proper goodbyes in, but it doesnt feel like goodbye. I still live right down the street, and I only worked 2 days a week there ever since microsoft, so. Ill most likely stop by every now and then, but. it still feels weird not working there. I received my last paycheck from kelle, and im glad. shes one of the few managers I actually like. Dana was never real with me, christina was always kinda the same way, and steve is just neutral. kelle's actually helped me out, and seemed legitimately interested in my life outside of target. another bonus: I had saved up 56 hours of sick pay, so my final pay was around $440 or so, kaching! only about $110 of it was from working the past 2 weeks, the rest was purely OT, sick pay, and vacation pay :} Goodbye, Target. No matter how much I complained about you, you truly helped me to grow into the person I am. You gave me amazing friends, great memories, good work ethic, and a bit of cash on the side too. I will miss you, but Im entering a new chapter of my life. Ill use these experiences to hopefully grow into a better person, and Ill always carry what you taught me with my life.
