I haz a thought. A couple of them actually.
So after last night of course this morning I woke up with my brain going WTF????? Matter of fact, I think I felt an aneurysm coming on from be all thinky thoughts.
And I don't have enough time to go through everything I was thinking just this minute 'cause ya know, work and stuff. But people -
SOMETHING is OFF here. I'm just sayin'. Its not really each thing in and of themselves but all of them together, I think. I don't even pretend to do the whole meta-ish behavior because there are so many people in this fandom that do it better than I do, but a few of the things that are buggin' me in no particular order:
- Dean is totally out of character. We're trying to understand. We're trying to sympathize. We're making excuses for behavior and feelings. But this is not OUR Dean. and I'm not saying he's possessed or anything equally as "simple". But this is not Dean. And when I say this is not Dean, I don't even mean it literally. It probably is. I think. But its not Dean being Dean. Does that make sense? Let's think about this. We know he's pissed, hurt, betrayed, scared, confused and a whole slew of other emotions. The shit has hit the fan. Him and Sam? The world - they broke it. This is WAY beyond opening the Devil's Gate. Right. Ok. And our little Dean - he's a reactionary crazy SOB. That's why we love him. But you know what? Something is OFF. Did I mention that? Last night, between him not going after Sam when he thought demons had him and then letting him go off on his own? Uh, what??? Its the fucking apocalypse and there are LEGIONS of demons running around. I'm just thinking some of them out there have OH SAY a serious vendetta against Sam to put it mildly. And yeah, Dean offered him the car (which don't EVEN get me started!) but he basically let Sam go off to face all of that with what - his backpack and laptop? WHAT??? Apocalypse, angels, demons, Lucifer and God be damned. The only thing that has EVER mattered to Dean is protecting that boy no matter how pissed off or hurt he's been. And sure, he's a little more so this time than ever before, but still. Let me say it again. SOMETHING is OFF.
- Has anyone ever noticed that Castiel generally talks to Sam (or anyone other than Dean for that matter) as little as possible? I mean, he doesn't ignore him per say, but if he can help it, he usually only talks to Dean. So um, it isn't sitting right with me that he called Sam last night. I get WHY he had to call, can't find them the usual way, etc. But one, how did he get their numbers? Easily explained away I suppose. And two, why did he call Sam and not Dean? Let that sink in a minute. He. Called. Sam. o_0
- I know he basically fell, or something - we're not really sure I guess - but Castiel can still carve graffiti on people's ribs, but he can't heal someone? For crying out loud, the faith healer up the road could probably do it but Castiel can't. Huh?
- Going back to last week and I know quite a few people have said this already, but um, how the HELL does Bobby get possessed?? Bobby, who if he knows anything, knows demons. If you're a demon, Bobby fucking Singer has got your number, bastard. Bobby, who has a panic room in his basement built of iron and covered in salt. Bobby, who knows 6232347 ways to exorcise a demon probably while frying up some green tomatoes for lunch at the same time. Bobby, the con man himself who can't be conned. Bobby, who gave the boys stuff to keep a demon "from gettin' back up in ya". This is the Bobby who can't protect himself from being possessed?? SERIOUSLY??
- And we won't even discuss WTF happened when Lucifer rose. Airplanes and putting holy tax accountant bodies back together because *brain goes esplodey*.
There's other things too that I'm not grasping at the moment and no, I don't have any answers. I don't think its as simple, like I said, as possession or anything we have seen or dealt with in the past. It might be even a "good" reason, like...there's a plan or bigger purpose here or something. That's not why I'm throwing this stuff out there. I'm just - yes, over the course of 4 years, there have been those little unavoidable slips and inconsistencies. Little mistakes. But if I have learned one thing about this show and its awesome creator and writers - its usually tighter than this and when its not, it never fails that it turns out to be that - SOMETHING IS OFF!
